The Blake at Kingsport
5.0

The staff is very helpful and friendly. They are very good about communicating with the family about your loved one, and you can call and ask about them any time. The move-in process is smooth, but be ready to produce documents like Medicaid info, living will, driver's license, etc. The meals are very good. I would highly recommend The Blake at Kingsport to others.

The Courtyards at Johnson City - The Gardens
3.8

When it comes to the meals and dining, this area needs lots of work. There needs to be healthier, fresh food...more vegetables and fruits. And better quality meats. The activities has recently dramatically improved with the hiring of a really good activities director. Previously, there were limited activities for the residents. Overall, we are happy with The Courtyards but there's room for improvement.

The Village At Allandale in Kingsport, TN

It's a very nice place for someone with dementia, which my aunt had. My uncle died within a week of arriving there and my aunt fell about 2 months later and fractured her hip, so she left there and passed away in a rehab facility post surgery. I really appreciated A Place for Mom's help in finding a place.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that offers residence to two or more seniors who have no familial relation to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its occupants with around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These nurses offer specialized care for people who are unable to adequately take care of their own needs.

This type of facility is a helpful and comfortable living alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often admit persons 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to be treated with respect, spend time with visitors, get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements, and be free from restraints. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal clothing, a private room, unless medically needed, and cosmetic and grooming items. A significant amount of residents tend to be bachelors or widows who have circles of support, and almost fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than the age of 85. Often times individuals might select life in a nursing home due to a mental or physical impairment that prevents them from easily accomplishing their standard of living. Many residents of nursing homes may have behavioral issues, which can consist of verbal outbursts, resisting care, or a tendency to wander.
