They were great with getting my father-in-law in the memory care unit with very short notice. They have been very patient with taking calls from my mother-in-law. There has not been much help in getting him seen at a VA Center facility that is only 3 miles away as they would prefer he use their in house physician.
I am very impressed with this center. It is beautiful with much to offer. The care is excellent. The nursing staff is wonderful. The aides do a great job and the activity director keeps it entertaining. The dining room is so elegant and the kitchen personal offer a fabulous menu to choose from. They allow pets so it’s so therapeutic for the residents.
The biggest issue is the food quality. Everything else is good. The staff is excellent, despite being short staffed. I would recommend Leighton Place to others.

The staff is very nice and accommodating. There is more miscommunication than I would like. There should be a handbook of rules for the residents, with information of what expectations are on both sides.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home provides residence to at least two persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of complex offers its occupants around-the-clock care by on-site nurses. These nurses provide health related services for people who cannot properly care for themselves due to the effects of aging.
This type of facility is a convenient and easy care option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will often admit individuals 55 and greater (a rarity in the realm of senior care). The most common mental disease effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can cloud their memory recall, and their sense of familiarity with their surroundings, and decision making capabilities. Often times individuals may choose to live in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a mental or physical condition that makes it difficult for them to accomplish their standard of living. Many residents of nursing homes might have behavioral problems, which can consist of verbal outbursts, resisting assistance, or a tendency to wander. Examples of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes might include injections, home care (like cooking, cleaning, or help with other daily activities), care coordination and case management, and social and recreational activities. Many inhabitants are bachelors or widows who have less social support, and about fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old.
