Brookdale Bloomsburg

Brookdale is smaller facility and that gives a cozy impression. There is more one on one attention to residents. The suites are spacious. General rooms are adequate. We are happy with our choice.

There is one staff member named [name removed] that goes over and beyond. She takes residents for drives and plans lots of activities and is very caring and engaged. My mother in law has severe memory loss but she really enjoys engaging with the health workers, probably more than the other residents. We like that Brookdale can accommodate people in various levels of functioning. Also nice to see some people in end stages that could easily be in a nursing home. Her only complaint is the food. She is Vegan and can't eat most of the food. She likes the cereal for breakfast but doesn't eat much after that. She relies on peanuts and raisins which [name removed] keeps in her room. [name removed]also thought it would be nice if there was a dispensary where they could buy some basics, like toiletries, snacks, etc. The cost could be added to her monthly bill. On a personal note, my wife and I discussed the abundant use of Styrofoam cups. They are toxic to drink out of and take thousands of years to degrade in land fills. A paper alternative would be more environmentally friendly. My mother in law loves it there and we highly recommend. The items I mentioned are minor.

They have been wonderful! I've never had the food and Mom has not yet participated in the activities. After a fall requiring hospitalization the staff stayed in daily contact with the outside facilities providing service until her return. The facility is in PA and I am in South Carolina and they regularly advise me of anything medically necessary for mom's care.

My mother in law loves the people there, both the residents and employees. This is closest to us do we get to see her almost every day.

I am very pleased overall. The scores below 5 reflect the inability of my sister to enjoy food, not the quality of the food. The residents do seem to be content. Many are engaged in activities in the social room when I am there. My sisters level of dementia prevents her from enjoying group activities. I know she is safe and well cared for.

Brookdale Bloomsburg is so bright and open. its a small community to where everyone knows everyone and they are all treated well. they do what they can to resolve any issues and are always there to lend a helping hand.

Our loved one was there for only a couple months and during that time we just realized Brookdale community wasn't for us, some of the time she would try and get out. Brookdale did a great job of realizing this place wasn't for us and they truly did everything they could of done to help us out. They were very accommodating. The people at this community are just wonderful. At the time our loved one was at this community she did not require a lot of care services other than needing help with her medication, which they helped out always. The administration did a very good job with the overall process, they did their absolute best to accommodate to her needs. Everyone at this community was very friendly, they would always say hi to us when we came to visit. The staff did their best to make everyone feel welcomed.

I chose this community because of location, my house was about 1/2 a mile from here so it feels like i'm back at home. My favorite part about this community is the staff and the cleanliness. The food here is great, they always have two featured entrees for each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They will also give you a second serving of anything you like. The room size is great for everything I wanted to bring here from my home.

It's nice and clean. Everybody loves the staff! The meals leave a lot to be desired. They had liver and onions one day and it was tough and cold, and not cooked right, and other times it's been bland. For the month of April they took some of the outside activities away, and the residents weren't very happy about that. They only went lunch one time, and there were no trips to Walmart. She really likes the activities director. I see a big difference in her, she needed to be around people.

Toured. Convenient location and clean facility. The rooms are a bit small. The lady we met with was informative and helpful. I think the price is a bit out of reach.
