They were great with getting my father-in-law in the memory care unit with very short notice. They have been very patient with taking calls from my mother-in-law. There has not been much help in getting him seen at a VA Center facility that is only 3 miles away as they would prefer he use their in house physician.

Nice setting, many activities and activities leader goes out of her way to get residents out of the building, keeps them informed of activities and reminds them. Residents are involved in problem solving and idea sharing.

Facility has large windows in common living room and I nice veranda for sitting outside when the weather permits. Also, it's nice they have a beautician on site once a week. The activities director is great. Improvements- sometimes, especially on the weekends, there is a strong urine smell . Maybe cleaning services aren't available on weekends? Some aides are more conscientious than others with making the bed properly, keeping Mom's clothes organized in her closet, etc.

I was told they took trips and did lots of fun things, here that is only for the assisted living residents and not the memory care residents. They took over what used to be Hillside restaurant and they said they had gourmet food and that is not true either. When the food is delivered it is completely cold. A lot of the promises that are made up front are not carried through with.

Since it’s been sold and they replaced the Executive Director, it’s gone downhill fast. The new management has turned it into a prison. There are no choices or resident rights! The rules are very strict and you can’t go against management!

You cannot walk very far into Hillside Assisted Living without seeing 5 very important words. Respect,Compassion, community, love and activity Staff truly enjoys working and interacting with residents. This is obvious not only through their words but through their daily actions. Kitchen gives numerous choices at each meal and even honors individual requests. Nursing is attentive and free shuttle bus to appointments is invaluable Administration is kind, caring and always thinking of new ways to make each day special. Rooms are spacious with full baths. Activity Director is full time. She provides a well balanced calendar of not only unique but interesting activities for mind and body. Weekly shuttle bus trips. My husband liked the facility very much. They are working with us to try and accommodate him with his special needs. We will visit the other 2 communities tomorrow.

We went to take a tour of this community and before I could even get to the door I knew that this was not the place for my loved one. The place was dark and depressing. The feeling was not right. Also they only have rooms and not apartments. It just wasn't right for us.

Overall we've been very pleased with how things have gone at Hillside Assisted Living! It's a nice looking place, and the staff have all been wonderful. Everyone here is friendly and going, and they do a great job looking out for the residents. My only concern is that they don't have any doctors on staff.

A Place for Mom has scored The Hillside Senior Living Community 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
