Maple View Memory Care in Fargo, ND

The facility is very open and inviting. They need to hire someone who will actually go get residents & ask them to come to activities instead of letting them sleep. They have 1 aide who is better at inclusion than the actual activity person.

My biggest concern is trying to get a schedule and routine together for mom. Now that mom is there, I have to find things out when I am up there visiting or when I call. They do not proactively call me to give me progress reports, and I wish they would. That is my biggest concern. That said, they work extremely well with the residents, keep them well cared for and busy. The staff is very friendly and polite. I really think they are a top notch place.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that houses at least two individuals who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. This type of complex provides its occupants with care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses provide care for people who are unable to properly take care of themselves due to mental or physical conditions.

This type of facility is a helpful and easy care option for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will usually accept individuals 55 and greater which is unusual for other senior care types. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, be treated with respect, exercise your rights as a U.S. citizen, and make complaints. Many occupants of nursing homes might have behavioral difficulties, which can consist of resisting care, verbal outbursts, or a tendency to wander. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include personal reading materials, flowers and plants, and cosmetic and grooming items. A large number of nursing home residents are individuals who have incontinence issues, experience difficulty with hearing and seeing, require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, or have a physical or mental disability. Nursing homes are required to provide nursing and related services, pharmaceutical services, dietary services, and emergency dental services to residents.
