In some rooms, the carpet needs replacing. The activities were lacking. I worried they were not checking on my Mom as much as needed. She kind of went downhill fast after being moved. But she came from a nursing home, so I think she needed more care than they could provide. I would recommend it for people who don't need a lot of care, just to be watched.... Read more

On [date removed] I toured a 2-BR with the director and my mom joined via FaceTime. We loved the apt. and I left telling her that we would likely take the unit but we wanted time to talk. I asked her to call me if anyone else expressed interest. I left and realized I had a question and left her a VM that same day [date removed] asking 1 question and and reiterating that we'd likely take the unit and asking her to call me. That was a Friday. The next week was the [date removed]. The following Mon. [date removed] I left her another VM staying the same things. Thurs [date removed] I called the main number hoping to talk to someone as the director never returned my call. I talked to another woman who said that she worked under the director. When I explained my situation she said "we rented that apartment yesterday ([date removed]) and we don't have any other units available." I asked her to have the director call me, and to date [date removed] NO ONE HAS EVER RETURNED MY CALL.

I love River Pointe for their room size, accommodations made by staff concerning diet, welcoming spirit, friendliness of residents and staff. The price is reasonable, checked all of the boxes for what my mom needed. Staff was very accommodating and work hard to make her feel welcome and cared for.

I couldn't find anything without a long waiting list and this community offers first come first served. My mom needed something now not on a list of wait till your number comes up. I feel it was a very good decision. It's very nice.

We have not had the meals ourselves but from what we have heard our loved one is not to happy with them on the weekends. However the lady who is in charge of the activities does a great job getting our loved one involved which is wonderful, we really appreciate that. Based on our experience so far we would recommend River Pointe of Moorhead to other families.

We've had a problem with communication lacking a bit. When my loved one who lives there calls and asks questions, she doesn't get immediate responses as she would like. When she moved in, there was a Covid issue, and everything was locked down for several weeks. She has also had a couple of major maintenance issues that have taken a very long time to get fixed. But generally she's happy with the food. And she's really enjoying the activities.

This is a wonderful place. The staff are so caring and friendly. All around it is good. When I toured it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling and I just knew it was going to be a good fit for my loved one.

Even with COVID, they raise the rates on these elderly people knowing they can not move out easily. The basic rent is incredibly high even though most of the people living their are very self reliant. Since they aren't allowing visitors inside, they can get away with a fraction of the staff. They charge for everything they can. If your loved one needs one med a day, they charge $400/month. If the Executive Director makes a visit to one of the residents to answer a question or concern, it's an $80 minimum charge (isn't that her job)? It's also about $80+ per incident if they assist them by guiding or encouraging them into the shower (they aren't actually washing or lifting them). The prices are astronomical, and they do not accept state funded long term care insurance. When you first move in, they make it seem very affordable but then once you're in, they raise the rates about every 6 months (for rent and all services), and then charge for everything they can. They have very limited staff on for the majority of the day/evening/weekends. Their customer service, especially their executive director seems to cease once you've been there a few months. She does make sure she is putting on a show for Facebook posts or events though.

I don't have the chance to visit often, but from what I have heard from my relatives who live closer things have been going very well at River Pointe! They looked into a few options in the area, and this was the one that stood out to them as the best!

A Place for Mom has scored River Pointe of Moorhead 9.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
