From the looks of our visits, my mom is experiencing a good, new lifestyle. She has made the transition just fine. We are getting the doctor set up and I am familiar with the staff. They are great workers and I think the facility is great too. The manager, staff, nurses, are all very nice, all kind and all helpful. She has a private room with a nice patio to sit out on in. We are please with selecting this community for my mom .

Complete guide to nursing homes

Menlo Park, California

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that offers residence to two or more seniors who have no personal ties to the administrator. This type of establishment provides its occupants with around-the-clock care by registered nurses. These caregivers offer health related services for seniors who are unable to properly take care of themselves.

Nursing homes can be a helpful and comfy living alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will routinely admit persons 55 and older (a rarity in the world of senior care). The most common mental condition effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can cloud their and their sense of familiarity, memory recall, and decision making capabilities. Often times persons may prefer life in a nursing home over another type of community due to a physical or mental condition that prevents them from easily accomplishing the activities of daily living. Nursing homes are required to provide nursing and related services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), routine personal hygiene items, and medically-related social services to residents. Examples of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes might include wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound, room and board, monitoring of medication, and friendly visitor programs. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements, be free from discrimination, to manage your money, and participate in activities.
