Even though my mom is at a facility I still feel like I'm taking care of her. I like that it's small. This has been a better fit than the previous place which was much bigger. What I like least is that they seem to always be short staffed. That's when things fall through the cracks. It came down to 2 places and I chose the one with a roll-in shower.

Brookdale Anderson

I would rate everything for Brookdale Anderson at a five, except for the cleanliness. I would give that a four. We cleaned it before we moved Mom in. The staff is really nice.

They help as much as possible individually. I would like to see more daily planned community group activities. Very good place for Assisted living they take good care of loved ones. We picked this community because it's more like home, cost in budget, staff, medical and transportation available if needed.

Independent Living

For many seniors, the financial burden of home ownership might be a deterrent to living an independent life. Independent Living Communities offer a solid remedy to this situation. Food preparation, recreational activities and housekeeping chores are handled for you while you are able to use your time as you desire. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of a private living space with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to entertain guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies differ between locations, many residences allow pets as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of private medical providers, they always have the option. There are an assortment of expenditures and advantages to balance when selecting an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in your care plan: utilities, wellness program, Waiting list deposit, initial assessment fee, meals, parking, transportation, and cable TV. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include private rental hall, beauty salon & barber shop, fitness center & swimming pool, transportation, golf course, security guards, concierge services, and healthcare center.
