If the food is an important part of your decision look somewhere else. My mom stays because for the price it's the only independent living in her area.

Facility needs updating Staff is amazing! Menu was inconsistent, almost daily. Servers were inconsistent. Tablecloths were not washed regularly. Grounds need updating, the great staff makes up for the age of the facility.

In dad's condition and state of mind he actually should have not been put there but they observed him and for the situation of mom being close by in the Anderson hospital it was a convenient place to stay for his condition and so they allowed him to be there. He was blind, barely able to get out of the wheelchair, had lots of arthritis, and had dementia. With all that they still worked with him, even when he was upset they understood and worked with him. They had patience working with him and watched over him through the day and night making sure he had his needs meet. All dad complained about was wanting to go home. Home was the only place he knew. He was scared, the place was unfamiliar but as he got adjusted, based on his looks and actions I knew he was ok staying there because of the way they cared for him and was very informative on a day to day basis when asked. Some of the employees seem to have an attitude but still done their job in taking care of him and some employees were very nice and had more of loving affection toward him. Whether these people with an attitude or just being the nice people they were, they were all real with me. I can't stand when people are faking having me to thinking if there is something going on that shouldn't be. Just be real that's what mattered to me. It was a normal work place that done their job in taking care of him. One lady said that she understood him and him being upset and scared because she also had a family member that was also blind. Dad only stayed for 13 days but when he left there they hated to see him go. One girl wanted to know where he was going and wanted to come visit him. So yes I recommend this place. They had good food and it was well kept and clean. I never seen anything that was dirty or unclean. They had a lot of activities to do but because of dad's condition he wasn't able to be apart of those activities but he was took care of for those 13 days that he was there. I thank the Lord and this place for making room for my dad to be there. Costs for dad's care was reasonable.

At the beginning, fees were a bit steep, and we were going to another facility that met Mom's budget better. But Brookdale worked with us on costs, so Mom will not be moving. The staff seem to take an interest in the residents. They always l come to Mom's room and encourage her to get involved in whatever activity is next. Also, regarding laundry.....I really appreciate that the staff do laundry for one room at a time......no need to write name/room # in clothes.

I would rate everything for Brookdale Anderson at a five, except for the cleanliness. I would give that a four. We cleaned it before we moved Mom in. The staff is really nice.

The facility is in “good” condition. It is clearly 25 years old and “in need of refreshing”. The apartment canopies are dry rotting. The grounds (shrubs) are in need of attention/replacement. The staff/administration is VERY kind and accommodating! The food service is probably the greatest disappointment. The table cloths and cloth napkins are not being cleaned. Staffing shortages are all too common and diminishes the dining experience. The food is generally well prepared and fresh. Activities are basic. The facility seems safe. There is a entrance “Guard Shack”, but I have never seen it occupied nor have I ever encountered/seen a security personnel… and I have been there a lot at all times of the morning, day, and evening.

Brookdale of Anderson is the home that we have been looking for! It checks all the boxes...great atmosphere, friendly residents, good food, and a pool! My dad was not happy at his previous living facility, we took him to look at Brookdale and within 5 minutes, he said "this is it, I a moving here". He has adapted so well and absolutely loves it!

My mother was there as a private pay long term care patient. She was moved multiple times for unknown reasons. The facility is dirty, most of the employees were agency who had no clue of what was going on, or didn't care. Rooms are small, outdated and in dire need of cleaning and paint. I cried every time i left there! My mother was on hospice care, but due to the lack of care, knowledge or communication with the hospice nurse, she was unable to receive medication to ease her discomfort. Me and my sister were the ones that " figured out" she was dying. I would not put my worst enemy in this place!

Response from Brookdale Anderson
May 1, 2023We take your comments seriously and are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations. The skilled nursing facility on campus will be closing, and we will continue to be committed to providing quality care and services to our residents and their families in the Independent and Assisted Living settings.
This lady that they so-called Director of Nursing in Assistant Living is not friendly at all and she talks to her staff awful. She really needs to be out of there with her attitude. She has no patience with clients and don't know how to care for them. How She got her job is beyond me. Remove her and get someone that is friendly and has compassion and it would be much better.

Response from Brookdale Anderson
March 23, 2023We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. Your feedback has been shared with our management team for review.
We chose Brookdale Anderson because it is a smaller property and my father is not very active and so I thought this would be a better fit for him. They were short staffed, but I know that is an issue across the board. Overall it was a positive experience and we would definitely recommend them to others.

This was a decent tour however, there was just another community that was closer and the best price for us that overshadowed this community.
My father was admitted into Brookdale rehab . While he was functional, he was weak and needed assistance. I was amazed at this facility and not in a good way. The building itself is worn and showing age. The lighting is absolutely depressing, the walls need new paint and the overall atmosphere will do nothing for a patient's spirits. While my father benefitted from his physical therapy there , the rest of the experience was not good at all. I was constantly having to call directly to the nurse's station for basic things like taking him to the bathroom, helping him get dressed etc..... There is no communication whatsoever. Never once talked to the doctor even though I repeatedly asked for doctor to call and update me. I was FINALLY able to get my father BACK to the hospital after repeated pleas. And once he was admitted back to the hospital, the social worker at Brookdale called me to discuss his care plan & had absolutely no idea that he had been readmitted to hospital.

Response from Brookdale Anderson
October 13, 2021Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss with you further and encourage you to reach out to our local management team.
During the six weeks our loved one was there, we had some circumstances that they really bent over backwards for us. Due to our loved ones health he was not able to be in assisted living so they made space for him in their skilled nursing. They were really good to us and very accommodating.
The community was clean. They had a tendency to lose sight of the residents needs once they are actually moved in. The food and activities were good. It was a better fit for those who are more mobile and steady as they had a lot of exposed roots outside so there was some fall risk we saw there.

Family member there during coronavirus and no communication after calling 4 times. I am a NP in large upstate hospital and we are calling family members about their love ones daily. Surprised with me being a provider no provider would call me. Terrible communication. Lots of problems with this facility. Physical therapy was good but that’s about it. Would not recommend this rehab facility.

My mom is in the Rehab part of Brookdale and there have been many times we have come in to find her in bed or in her wheelchair soaked from her urine and a puddle on the floor under her wheelchair. She is not allowed to get up to go to the bathroom herself and it takes them 20-60 minutes to even come into the room to see what she needs. We have found her asleep in her wheelchair where she has slept there all night and her legs were swollen. They didn't or don't check on them to see if they are in bed at night. One time i went to visit and was there for a couple hours and they had folded sheets on the bed but never made it up so she could lay down, I had to make it for her so she could get some rest. She has also gotten cookies or cakes with her meals that were stale/hard/dry. if you go into the back room where there is a TV and long table you will see several people in their wheelchairs asleep sitting up/hunched over and have been there for several hours as i see them when i visit my mo.

Support for aging parents is difficult and our journey with Mom’s stroke brought us here. Mom had a short stay at Brookdale as she came from a rehab in Anderson. She needed 24/7 monitoring and care before coming home as she continued physical therapy. The team at Brookdale was caring and throughtful on every level. Thanks especially to [name removed] and [name removed] who were so helpful and accommodating throughout each step of our journey.
