Holiday Stratford in High Point, NC
5.0

The staff at Holiday Stratford are extremely personable and friendly. Housekeeping runs a bit behind sometimes. Communication with our family is on point! The move in was a breeze. The meals are good quality and perfect portions. I have, and will continue to, recommend this facility. I know they've been purchased by another investor, so we're all praying that the staff remains employed! I promise they will not find another manager like [name removed]!

Heritage Greens in Greensboro, NC
5.0

I would give heritage a 5 on all counts. Lots of activities and mom said the food was delicious. One especially nice feature was the small cafe in the lower level that is open for alternative meal choices if you don't care for the dining hall choices or want to eat at a different time of day when the dining room is closed. Also for those who want an independent living lifestyle but need some assistance there is a third party group that can be hired on an a la carte basis, depending on the needs.

The Dorchester South in Pineville, NC
4.5

The food options, the activities and the safety the community provides is something we likes most about The Dorchester South community. For activities they have different outings every week as well as party and get togethers. Based on our experience so far, we would recommend the community to other families.

They have a really expensive upfront fee, I think its 10000 upfront. Of course it's just beautiful, but they didn't have any private rooms available. You could go in semi-private and be on a waitlist and they're just really geared for their residents...

This place has a very pleasant atmosphere. It's very quiet. It's not glitzy and overdone, which we liked. It's more for regular folks. We ended up choosing another place because it cost less money but we really liked this one.

Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a convenient equilibrium between an opportunity to live an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about chores. Residents may continue to live their lives as they desire while their meals are cooked by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are handled by staff, and social activities are scheduled and organized. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of private living spaces, each with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering opportunities to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a variety of advantages and costs to keep in mind when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are included in your care plan: meals, field trips, utilities, internet access, housekeeping, Waiting list deposit, laundry, and wellness program. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include healthcare center, community activities, golf course, transportation, beauty salon & barber shop, fitness center & swimming pool, game/TV room, and restaurant-style dining hall.
