Complete guide to independent living

Sauk Rapids, Minnesota

Independent Living

Many seniors may be physically and mentally capable of living without assistance, but cost of owning a home and the upkeep of daily tasks and chores might be a deterrent to living an independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities provide a good remedy. Occupants may continue to live their lives as they see fit while their food is cooked by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are taken care of by staff, and recreational activities are scheduled and organized. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of private living spaces, each with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering opportunities to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of expenditures and advantages to balance when determining an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are covered in the service plan: field trips, private phone, parking, housekeeping, internet access, cable TV, transportation, and initial assessment fee. The benefits that pertain to independent living include community activities, transportation, fitness center & swimming pool, golf course, laundry service, concierge services, game/TV room, and restaurant-style dining hall.
