Wellness Care Senior Living at Ojai in Oak View, CA

My mom has been at Autumn Years for over a year now. They have been unfailingly warm and helpful, to us as well as to her. We took care of Mom for two years and understood that it wouldn't be an easy matter to work with her emotional swings, yet the staff at Autumn Years has been beyond wonderful. There always seems to be some activity going on, yet the staff gently encourages the residents to participate, never pushing. I can sense Mom's comfort with knowing her own routine and feeling cared for. Deirdre [last name removed], the director, has always taken care of everything with efficiency and kindness. I really can't recommend this facility highly enough.

The administrative staff are very friendly, helpful, and caring. The community was great! This is the best of the best, and worthwhile for your family. The food didn't look like the advertisement, but the food still was good though.

This is truly an amazing community. I'am extremely pleased with everything they have done for us. You feel like your a vacation, the community looks like a resort. My mother is doing very well, she loves it. The staff is wonderful, they are caring for her very well. She is trying many daily activities. The food is good, she enjoys the meals. It is a beautiful community, with nice and friendly people. It has really been a great experience and I would recommend it.

Carpinteria, California

Independent Living

Many seniors may be capable of living without assistance, but the financial burden of home ownership might deter them from an independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities offer a convenient alternative. Basic tasks such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they wish, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and interests. Typically consisting of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between locations, a number of residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private care providers. There are an assortment of expenses and advantages to keep in mind while choosing an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are covered in the service plan: cable TV, laundry, meals, transportation, private phone, parking, internet access, and initial assessment fee. The luxuries associated with independent living include community activities, beauty salon & barber shop, fitness center & swimming pool, restaurant-style dining hall, concierge services, security guards, private rental hall, and game/TV room.
