My mom was very reluctant at first to attend this, or any facility for respite care. She spent a month at Wickshire and she was pleasantly surprised I think. She appeared happy every time I visited, and being a loner typically, felt comfortable around the other residents and staff. She enjoyed most of the meals and even gained weight! The staff was very caring and supportive - very reassuring. I would like to make this a yearly respite stay for my mom.... Read more

The sales persons were beyond excellent. The place is old, and needs major updating and renovations. It was more expensive than a brand new updated facility in town.

Depends on the person and his/ her needs. Very small community, residents are connected. They don't have enough staff and there is ALOT of turnover. It wouldn't be for someone who is higher functioning and is used to higher sets.

I would say that Wickshire is a good place with a few problems any place will have. "No place is perfect. But the place is very attractive & the staff is friendly! I like having my own space. There are great activities & the food is good most of the time. My main is with the number of residents who are confused & mentally impaired.

The main concern is have is that They do not have enough staff to meet residents' needs... ie wait time when call for help. The residents are very kind and welcoming. The food is awful... the facility is small ( homey) and contained so easier for residents to get around. They need a better variety of activities. The person that you initially meet with is amazing and I really liked her.... but its almost a tease...

We did not have a good experience at wickshire. My mother in law was living at park summit that is a very good place but have to move her out due to absence of security . They keep calling us saying that she was lost. Move her to [removed] and it was a good place for her until they change into wickshire. Everything change for the worse . No way to get in contact with director neither manager and when they finally answer phone or see us keep saying that did is not atria we are different . We had to move her again gave them 30 day notice and left room in a much better shape that we received still they charge one more moth of room and board and we are trying since [date removed] to get the money back with no luck . None of the employees has done anything. Director and manager does not respond when we call and billing department does not answer emails . No other way to comunícate with them . So sorry we put her there

Wickshire Tamarac has a family like atmosphere to it which was something we were looking for. All of the staff members and residents are so kind and friendly. When we come to visit they know us all by our first name and always greet us. The staff members show genuine concern for our loved ones care - even when he had to go to the hospital a few times they were checking in on him and welcomed him back with open arms when the hospital released him .The meals and dining service is fantastic, they have club napkins, a leather bound menu like something you see at a fancy restaurant. The wait staff is incredible. The activities are very good, he has made plenty of new friends playing cards and bingo. They have happy hours every day and live musical entertainment. It has been a lovely experience so far.

This place is clean, beautiful, well taken care of. They take very good care of the residents. I would recommend them to friends and family.
We toured with Wickshire Tamarac and the facility was very clean, but I just did not get that warm and fuzzy feeling that I was looking for.
Things have been pretty good so far. Everybody seems very friendly, and they try to get our family member involved. She's safe and well looked after. Her big complaint is that the food is not served hot. I keep checking the weekly menu on the app for families, but they still have the menu from the beginning of August posted, so it's hard to keep track of whether what she's reporting to us is accurate or not. I would love to see that get updated. In looking for a place, everyone's needs/experiences are different. For our family, we've had a positive experience overall.

I have been trying for a couple of weeks to get some information. I have a questions about my loved ones care, it is not crucial, but it is something I would like to know and I have not heard back from them. But other than that, we do not have any complaints. She is doing very well - we feel that she is in a good, safe and clean place. The facility is smaller and that gives it a more home-like atmosphere. I would recommend to other families looking.

My loved one loves the care services and the staff. They don't have a lot of activities and this is one of the main reasons that we wanted my loved one to go here. I would recommend this community for someone that needs assisted living. For someone with dementia I feel like there is another place with more activities where they would have better stimulation for their minds.

We chose Wickshire Tamarac because it is a smaller community, it felt very home like and warm and comfortable, and all of the staff were very friendly. They have been great about helping my mom get acclimated. I think it is a better fit for people who are more independent but need a little assistance. I definitely would recommend them and already have to some friends.

This place has been great and it has been everything that we need in a community. The level of care is amazing and the communication is amazing . My loved one had to switch from assisted to memory care and the transition was great. We are thrilled she is there.

We had a great tour with Wickshire and we really liked the facility a lot. The staff had a lot of interaction with the residents which is something that stuck out to us. They were great with communication and seemed to be accommodating. The only reason we did not choose this facility was because the pay was not all inclusive, so we figured it could end up being more expensive.
They are very super people and I would highly recommend. I have eaten there with my loved one and they do a really good job. They are still some restrictions due to covid. If you have a family member or someone that needs to move into a facility I would recommend taking a look at this community.

Everyone was friendly, and it was a nice, small, intimate community. They continued to provide activities, even during Covid. Be careful before move-in- we moved in during Covid, based on a word of mouth assessment from the rehab facility my loved one was coming from. She ended up being at a higher level of care than what they had assessed, and was therefore at a higher level of care than Wickshire could provide. So we ended up having to move. I'm not sure whose fault that was, but it was a frustrating experience either way The place itself we were happy with. They treated us well, and everyone was friendly and helpful.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
