My loved one is currently a resident at Vernon Terrace of Edina and overall things are great now. The facility is very clean. The friendliness is good, but at one point it was poor. The staff and care services are great. When my loved one first moved in over a year ago, the food was disgusting. However, it is great now. My loved one was previously a resident at Vernon Terrace of Edina and the experience was not a good one. The Memory Care unit is on the ground floor and they have fire exits that can't be locked. My loved one went through the fire exits several times, setting off the fire alarm and alerting the fire department. So the facility told us that we needed to find a new place for him because they could no longer care for him. They helped us get him into a sister facility. We liked the staff at Vernon Terrace, but the overall experience there wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

New management with five Executive Directors within one year timeframe. Basic minimum services costly, in comparison to other independent living communities. Emphasis appears to be focused on attaining corporate profit rather than thoughtful measures which could easily be extended to independent residents.

There has been a change of management. They are working hard to get out the kinks.

Mom and I moved here in July 2020. All was really good with LifeSpark staff on-site. Now we have CareBuilders. The service is inconsistent or non existent. My Mom is 77 and I am 54. [name removed] the Director of Vernon Terrace is fully informed of the issues we’ve had and same with [name removed] the owner of CareBuilders. It’s a shame. If you need assisted living care, think twice. Otherwise the facility is nice and lots of activities if a resident wants to participate. Location is awesome. No doubt the Director will be upset with my post. I can only hope she doesn’t retaliate.

I felt when we came to tour that this facility was much less busy and hectic than other places that we saw. It also does not have that institutional feeling at all. The apartments have full kitchens and felt more homey. The activities have been great, I like how they provide a shuttle service so residents don't have to worry about deriving but are still able to get out and about. The nurses on the care staff have all been great but I know they are changing companies so it will be new staff. I would recommend Vernon Terrace for others.

The community was good just not what we were looking for my loved one. They had a good tour.
They never showed up for my virtual tour. They felt really bad about it and tied to get me to come back, but I was done at that point. We were also considering moving our loved one to a different state, so that also influenced my decision not to reschedule.
Our Dad really liked the Vernon Terrace. The warmth from the staff AND the residents was wonderful. He really felt at home even though the courtyard is small and the building is older. There is a beautiful library across the street as well as Jerry's groceries and the Edina Senior Center. If you can swing the private pay, this is worth checking out. Small detail, but we really liked it, is resident's last names are on a nice brass plaque on each door. It felt just like a solid front door - a door to a home - than a room in a building. That feeling was throughout. All the staff and residents said hello. It's too expensive for us.

The community is very nice and in a great location and it's in a safe neighborhood. They have a 3rd party that does additional care and they are amazing. I would definitely recommend this community to others

My mother is a new resident and loves her apartment and this community. She has been very quickly welcomed by other residents and is forming some friendships. She loves the food, has been on a few outings and the convenience of the Edina Senior Senior across the street along with shopping. We are satisfied with our choice of Vernon Terrace.

This would have been my first choice but they had nothing available and the wait list was very long. Very nice place, with very nice and friendly residents.

Really liked the Willows. Smaller, personal, calm and gracious. This would have been our choice, and may later be. For now, we are keeping Mom living at home with me.

Vernon Terrace is welcoming, inviting, and responsive to our needs. The food is good and the activities are varied with something for everyone. We have not needed to use the bus service but are thankful that it is there for future needs.

January 25, 2017Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for your review. We're happy we've been able to make Vernon Terrace of Edina a good home for you! Andrea C., Bigos Management
The community here is nice. The staff is nice. My mom was busy with activities for a time period. The meals seem to be good. The staff needs to keep me more updated with her progress. I would recommend this community for great care for love ones.

I feel that I did not have a good tour. I did not see much here and I believe an update in decoration and furniture may brighten up the community. It did look and seem to be clean within the facility. My tour guide was on time for our meeting and they also were knowledgeable about the community care. Overall It was not inviting to me.

My Mom moved in about a month ago so we don't have a great amount of experience with this facility yet. So far, she is very happy with her living space, and is getting to know other residents when she has dinner, says they are all ery friendly. She hasn't participated in the activities yet but from what I see, they look very entertaining and fun! The staff has been overall very helpful although we were a little disappointed in how little they knew about setting up Mom's tv connection and told us incorrect information about the process. But overall, she's been happy! As far as value and services, I'm inexperienced in comparing to other independent/assisted listing facilities but feel the cost is prohibitive but probably comparable to others.

Really great when first arrived, but staff change and they are lazy. Many times I see no staff around and most people living there are in kitchen alone. Stay away until new health care come in
