My loved one is very happy and has made many friends. They offer flexible meal plans and a la carte services. Good social events for a broad range of interests and abilities - many offsite tours to museums and other areas of interest. Apartments are medium size for the description. FIRST: [name removed]! We loved her- competent knowledgeable, fun, beautiful- clearly loves her job and the people of Parkshore. The facility is beautiful + such a dignified response to aging in place & clearly understands and learn and connects throughout life. Wonderful that people can- and need to! - Continue to grow activities + apartments are spacious, and inviting.

The reason we gave the overall experience a 3 is because placing our loved one in independent living rather than assisted living ended up moving within the complex at our expense. What we like most about the community is the friendliness of staff, the cleanliness, and my Dad always said the food was really good. Yes I would recommend this community to other families, I wish my Dad was able to stay there

Many good things, but weak in the nursing Department, staffing on weekends, and no CNAs, though they publish in their June '23 newsletter that they want to hire CNAs. The RAs (resident assistants) are used instead. They deliver medications but know nothing about them. They mostly don't introduce themselves or have bedside manner training. It is hard to understand the English of some of them. It would be much better to hire CNAs, and St. Louis Park High School has a program for this...you can be licensed at 18 if you complete the program in high school. On the plus side, the activities are great and so are the walking trails and the resident attended gardens out back. Meals are expensive compared to some other places nearby.

Being out of state we do not get to visit that much, however when we do speak with our loved one she does seem to enjoy the meals and dining service. We do think the overall value for the money is good and based on our experience so far we would recommend the Parkshore Senior Campus to other families.

We chose Parkshore Senior Campus because we had a lot of personal references. The room sizes here are very nice and spacious. We have heard the food is very good, they are chef prepared meals. I would recommend to others looking.

November 1, 2021Thank you for taking the time to review our community. We take all points in consideration and appreciate your honest assessment. With appreciation, Doreen
What a beautiful facility! Even better was the clear care the staff had for the residents and the smiles on the residents faces! The amenities are incredible and would provide the kind of environment our mom would thrive in. All interests were present in the extensive programming offered. It's clear that the company mission is owned by each member of the staff. Great place!

I appreciate [name removed] providing a great tour for my Dad. My Dad's main concern about this facility is the cost. With my Mom's memory care needs it will cost a minimum of $120,000 a year to live in an approx 500 square ft one bedroom apartment. There is no washer or dryer in the apartment that he saw. The benefits of this place are the 3 meals a day provided for both my parents in the cost, access to the pool and church services.

This place is seriously fabulous. Unfortunately, there was not a unit available for our time needs. I completely understand why there is a waitlist.

I moved my parents into Parkwood Shores in 2015 after my mom had a fall and discovering that dad was not able to fend for himself while she was in rehab. Also in rehab it became clear that they were not taking their medications and that dementia was becoming a problem. The fourth floor is the Alzheimer's unit. It's a secure floor with doors locked and you need a code to get out. That was a good thing for my parents because they would get lost. After a few days there they became more comfortable and I'm not sure they were aware that they were locked in - it became home and familiar. I was happy that they were safe and not needing to go out to get groceries or drive or have to cook and leave the stove on. Staff took them by van to appointments and to outside activities which they enjoyed for awhile - Alzheimer's made the world they were comfortable in very small, and it doesn't get better, so having them in a now familiar place was perfect for them in their situation. The care was pretty good - it's a very difficult job - and it's never going to be "as good as if they were home". But I think that's a fallacy, because 24-hour care really, in my opinion, can't be done by family alone. We couldn't have done it ourselves.

Parkshore has a great marketing department, but that is about where it ends. We had a great tour, but discovered pretty soon they weren't very upfront about the waiting list. We were very clear that our mom was moving from out of state and we were concerned about her fitting in and making friends. They talked up all the wonderful things they did to help residents when they move in, but upon moving in, aside from a activities calendar review, mom was on her own to figure it out. We were also clear that mom had some mild cognitive issues, but was still very independent. They expounded upon how they could easily "bridge the gap" between independent living and memory care with a la carte services, but very quickly pushed us to move her into memory care at 3-4X the cost after the staff noticed any memory lapse.

My mom moved in to Parkshore after much-ado over the waiting list. They really marketed all the amenities and the caring staff, but at the end of the day they were not able to deliver. They made a big show before we moved in about all the onboarding and services available, but when mom had trouble integrating initially and we asked for assistance helping her feel at home, the answer was "This is independent living and she got the orientation so she should be able to figure it out on her own." Things never got much better from there. They had very little patience for some of the idiosyncrasies of age my mom started to show and the answer to any problem, real or manufactured, always involved paying them more money.

My loved one enjoys the variety of food offered. The community is kept clean and the grounds are nice. There is not a lot of parking close to the community. The staff are great. They are friendly and helpful. I would recommend asking a lot of questions when you look at a community.

A Place for Mom has scored Parkshore Senior Campus 6.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
