Response from The Watermark at Oro Valley
June 26, 2024Thank you for your review and kind words. We love our associates as well.
We had toured many facilities leading up to our current assisted living arrangement and felt that the Watermark at Oro Valley was a great place for mom. My mother has been here for over three years and has seen the highs and lows of growing old and living in a controlled environment i,e; dining, activities, outings where you may or may not be able to go out on your own. This facility has gone through many changes and as usual staff changes. Through all the trials to include COVID, Watermark has always tried to keep residence and family members informed on any changes to ensure that everyone is safe and happy. The dining facility is always clean and the wait staff knows you by name and most times what you like before you ask. The menu gives you many options for whichever meal you are having. Overall the facility is a great place for mom and would recommend it to others. Take a tour and see for yourself

Response from The Watermark at Oro Valley
August 15, 2023Dear Damian, Thank you so much for your positive 5-star review! It is our pleasure to have your mother with us and so glad that we have earned your trust over the years. We are committed to providing quality care to all of our residents, families, and guests and we are so glad it shows. We are so thrilled to learn that you enjoy our dining options prepared by our great chef, too.
The recent change was rough at first but settling in. They still have a few kinks to work out. They are actively working at those. My loved one enjoys the food. The offer a variety of activities. They do don't try to actively recruit the residents into participating in those activities. That could need addressed. After a rough transitional period in the beginning, she settling in much better now.

Response from The Watermark at Oro Valley
July 20, 2022Dear Peg, Thanks for sharing your positive experience – we love what we do and I'm glad it shows. If it would be possible to give me a call, it would be great to know what we can do differently to make The Watermark at Oro valley the first choice for area seniors. We are focused on constant improvement and your insights would be very helpful. Thank you Betsy McCoy Executive Director 520-989-3807
When Watermark bought the Quail Park of Oro Valley Assisted Living facility, the administration and nurses were fired (or left on their own accord), which should have been a red flag for us. Watermark overdosed my mother-in-law with insulin two days in a row which cause her blood glucose to bottom out. When they realized their mistake, they evicted my in-laws and handed the letter directly to my mother-in-law and ignored my wife's wishes to have her handle the situation. As a result of the stress, my mother-in-law developed congestive heart failure and was hospitalized for a week.. This could have been prevented if Watermark had let my wife handle the situation. My wife has Power of Attorney (POA) for her parents for all financial and medical decisions. We verified that the POA is indeed valid for all financial and medical decisions with our lawyers and state agencies and should not have been ignored. I would give zero stars if possible. Beware and stay clear!

A Place for Mom has scored The Watermark at Oro Valley 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
