We were looking for a place in LA that our dear friend in Austin, TX could come home to. After visiting a half dozen communities, we settled on The Village at Sherman Oaks. We were welcomed by the Executive Director, and then experienced exceptional courtesy, professionalism, and personalized service from all of the staff, as our friend made plans and finally became a resident. She is very happy, and we are grateful that she is receiving exceptional care every day in such a pleasant setting.

The village is infested with bed bugs. They found hundreds and hundreds of bed bugs in my grandmothers unit and many other units. As a result, they had to move the elderly tenants out of each unit into another unit and spray. It doesn’t work. The building is infested so they come back. The distress this is causing my Grandma and others is unimaginable.

Response from The Village at Sherman Oaks
August 20, 2018Hi MLS F. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation is causing your loved one. While typically not dangerous, bed bugs are fast and can spread easily. For that reason, we treat this issue very seriously. From the moment we were informed, we took immediate action to eliminate the problem with a procedure that is designed to stop the spread and eradicate the pests as quickly and as effectively as possible. We continue to work with experienced pest control contractors to manage any outbreaks. My door is always open to you or you may reach me at [removed] to discuss. Sincerely, Pam Munday Regional Director of Operations Senior Resource Group
This place is opposite the Van Nuys Middle School and it's way too expensive for seniors. It was clean and seemed very nice. It seemed higher grade but it was just way too expensive.

A Place for Mom has scored The Village at Sherman Oaks 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
