There have been numerous resident complaints about food quality, variety, amount, lack of condiments, lateness of delivery and frequently meals not delivered. This has been addressed with the Director, who seems uninterested. Based on the issues with the food, I would not recommend The Village At Alameda. Residents in any facility look forward to meals and they should be a source of enjoyment. Other than that, the staff is very accommodating and seem to be very caring. A director with some experience and proper training would recognize and appreciate the needs of the residents.

I just spoke with my mom and asked her if she could tell me why she likes The Village. She said that everyone there is so nice, the food is very good, her room is kept very clean and she has friends to visit with. My experience with the staff has been positive as well. We've had a couple of glitches, but they were handled promptly and to our satisfaction. The Village is also nearly $[removed]/month less than the previous facility. We would highly recommend this facility!

My mother loved The Village at Alameda. The executive Director, [name removed], is a compassionate, loving person. My mother is only leaving because of her illness. The residents are polite, sweet and helpful. Everything is great, on a scale of one to ten I would rate everything a 20. They go above and beyond.

A Place for Mom listed the Village at Alameda as a location to consider for my mother. My first impressions were the fully mature landscaping and walking path around the buildings. Very smooth, nice and shady. The slightly aged exterior was already slated for a new roof and paint job which turned out beautifully. The interior was always clean and seasonally decorated. Being located adjacent to the International Balloon Fiesta made for exciting mornings in October. But these are only cosmetics. The real heart of the facility was the amazing leadership and caregiver staff. The engaging activities kept mom out of her room most of the time. Every one of the staff always greeted my mother by name and with love and respect. When providing her care, they were always compassionate and loving. It takes a very special skill-set and heart to do this type of work and all, I repeat, all of the staff performed their jobs like they were caring for there own loved ones. Thank you Village at Alameda.

I would recommend The Village at Alameda to all. The facility is a community that interacts well with everyone, well-checks are done routinely, and it is clean and well maintained. Meals are professionally prepared. The grounds have mature plantings which are well maintained, and it is adjacent to balloon fiesta Park.

I toured with The Village at Alameda and it was a pretty nice place. I was looking for independent living though and they only offered assisted living. The rooms that I saw were small and dim. The tour was fine, it was very detailed and they gave me all of the information I needed in order to be able to make my decision.
We took my mom in on a Thursday and a lot of the people were really nice and took great care of her. But there were other people who did not seem qualified or interested in what they were doing. When we got there no one knew what was going on with the medication, it was unorganized. The following day we asked if anyone would get her her pain meds and the nurse did not know. She came back and we asked what medication it was and she did not know what exactly the medication was, she just said it started with an A so that was concerning especially because she was the one in charge of all medications. Another time we asked for someone to help my mom and we looked in the courtyard and 4 out of the 5 staff were taking their break out there at the same time so that was frustrating. There were some great staff and not so great staff. Overall it was just a mixed bag.
I've told several friends this is a great place for my parents. The care is exceptional. The director is particularly attentive to the needs or desires of the residents. She's had an open door policy so you can seek her out at any time. The staff is quick to address needs. It's a friendly atmosphere all around.

Response from The Village At Alameda
June 23, 2022Thank you for your review!
The Village at Alameda is a very friendly community. I am a health care professional and I found their care to be a cut above. The staff and my mother’s fellow residents were very welcoming when she moved there from out of state. With about 75 residents the facility is large enough to offer a variety of activities and social opportunities, yet small enough for staff to get to know the residents well. There are certain caregivers who consistently lead the way to go above and beyond. When you see the passion they bring to their care, it gives a level of comfort to both residents and family. There is a range of different sizes and layouts for the apartments and we moved my mother into a unit that was perfect for her needs. Housekeeping and laundry services are included in these pet-friendly apartments. Public areas and grounds are appealing and well-kept. The inviting dining room with small tables, a large fireplace, salad bar and rotating menus can also accommodate in-room tray delivery. The Village staff coordinated caregiving very well with our hospice team and our family. We were kept informed constantly regarding my mother’s care and condition, which allowed us to be fully involved in her evolving needs. While moving a loved one to assisted living is often stressful for families, the staff and management of the Village eased that process considerably for all of us. We highly recommend The Village at Alameda for when time come when this level of care is needed for a loved one.

I was impressed with the staff and the facility. This is the one I selected for the respite care we needed. The respite care room was close to the dining room and activity area and staff to patient ratio were good.

Strong Points: Nice sized rooms; very good views of the mountains and Albuquerque skies as you walk around or wheel around the grounds; sunny, cheery dining room with lots of windows; salad bar available at lunch and dinner in addition to meals, and also a menu from which one can make a selection if the dinner choice does not suit you; residents enjoy bingo, poker, and frequent music programs; transportation for medical appointments is available two days a week; chief administrator and senior staff are very caring towards residents and their families. Weak Points: Staff turnover is a real problem. Resident assistants change frequently, and this detracts from resident care, as it takes time for new staff to learn the needs of each resident. Training is lacking for new resident assistants, this again detracts from resident care, particularly for those residents whose level of functioning is somewhat lower
