[name removed] was excellent. She helped bring the costs down as much as any of the assisted living places would. The meeting with the person who "helped you decide on needed cares did not explain that once you picked a care , you could never remove it or it's charge. We were told that care needs could fluctuate but obviously only to their financial advantage. We were adamant she did not want to be awakened/ checked on at night. We later saw it on the charges & she tried to say we were just trying to reduce the cost. I am an RN. The cares are being padded so you better ask for the minimum & only add later if essential. She needs help dressing, hearing aids, & opening the heavy room door. Pays for but seldom gets. Front desk is often unattended. Drs visits are limited, I believe 9-1 one day per week. She loves the place as "all the girls are so sweet ". So she keeps giving her things to them. We are trying to get her to stop. Most importantly the care seems good, the food is good... Read more

I needed a place for my husband to be taken care of while he was continuing to recover from brain surgery. I looked at many and called various others with no luck. I got positive response from the Rivers. Went there to discuss placing him there and looking the place over. I was very pleased with what they have to offer and the tour of the facility was wonderful. I have a place for him at the Rivers.

I'd say the staff is pretty friendly with my dad, he even made friends with one of them. Facility offered all types of services if any type of care needed to be changed, of the places I visited, this was the best bang for the buck. My dad seems pretty contempt with where he is at.

September 11, 2024Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear that your dad has formed a great bond with our staff and found the services here to be comprehensive and valuable. It’s wonderful to know he’s content and that you feel it’s the best value among the places you visited. If you have any further feedback or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
I would tell a friend to stay away. The leadership at the Rivers is dreadful. I have never dealt with anybody so lazy, dishonest, untruthful, and as irresponsible as [name removed]. He blew me off for 3 months while I was trying to get my final invoice. When I finally got ahold of him, he lied to me by telling me that my bill was all paid up and then sent me to collections. He repeatedly told me he was going to look into things or fix this or that and never did anything he said he would do. Also make sure you read the contract. I had to pay rent at that place for 30 days after my dad died because of a clause in the contract about giving notice. My dad died in May of 2023 and I just now (11 months later) got the mess from the Rivers all untangled.

The location was close. The memory care unit was new. Each resident has a private bedroom. As my husband was dying, his care was exceptional and I felt supported. The staff were especially caring and supportive.

April 3, 2024We are so honored to have cared for your husband and are happy that we could offer support during a difficult time. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
Facility is older but kept in decent condition, and we have not met any staff members who were less than pleasant. More variety on the food - they have a variety of options for each meal on a (weekly?) rotation basis, but they are all pretty basic and get boring over time.

February 29, 2024Thank you for sharing your thoughts! If you have any suggestions for improvement to share, please contact Erica Ogle, Regional VP of Operations, at erica.ogle@pegasusseniorliving.com. We appreciate your time.
The staff that cooked and cleaned were great, admin were horrible. The food was horrible and always cold. Not many activities were offered. The Rivers were charging us extra and promised to credit us for months! It took me reaching out to their Texas office to get my moms money back!! Total scam!!! I would tell others to always check charges on your monthly statement! They said it was super quiet and could never hear the trains - Just the opposite - my mom could never get a good nights rest!

January 19, 2024Thank you for your positive rating! We are indeed a private-pay community, and our team is happy to provide any clarifying information to future residents. In addition to pricing, our amenities, location, and unique perks also play a significant role in seniors' and their families' decision-making process. Thank you again for your feedback.
The Rivers is great! Only problem is cost, she may not be able to live there too much longer. However, we love the food, the activities, and loved her studio, outings, staff. She was gaining weight(which she desperately needed) I really didn't see anything negative about it. Would have been 5 overall except for the price it's a great place

We picked this community, because I was familiar with the location. They refurbished the facility, and the memory care unit is fantastic, and has shared rooms, which has total privacy. The staff is excellent. The medical staff was able to handle my loved one. They have been interactive, and they are providing the proper care. The care staff to resident ratio is good. It is clean, and nice. The food is good. They are just fantastic.

May 5, 2023Judy, we appreciate your very kind words about our community and services. It is an honor to serve your loved one here at The Rivers at Puyallup. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family!
My loved ones apartment has a living room, counter with sink, microwave and reg size refrigerator. Handicapped bathroom and large bedroom. He uses a w/c and is able to go to the dining room. There is a large community room, small coffee area outside the dining room and a beauty salon where he has used. Large outside patio. I would recommend to others.
