The Mansions at Decatur Senior Independent Living

The overall experience has been mostly positive, the community is very clean and also the staff are very good. They are all pleasant, warm and helpful. Since it is independent living care is minimal. Housekeeping happens every other week, handy man is on staff and ready to fix problems in units. The food is quite good considering they feed a crowd. It is varied-vegetarian and seafood are available as well as meat. There is a varied menu to choose from if the scheduled menu item is not to one's liking and the head chef has regular meetings with us to hear questions and complaints. Wait staff work hard to please and get food out to us in a timely way. They are kind and patient. The problem is keeping them on! There are lots of activities-entertainers, exercise classes, some residents sing in a chorus here, various outings, games (bingo, nickels, cards, puzzles, scrabble etc) Happy Hour w wine and snacks, parties for special holidays or events. There are those who live here who complain there is too much to do!(I am not one) we have a full time activity director who works hard to plan regular fun and pleasant and stimulating things. I feel I get a lot for my money. No upkeep of property outside or in is a plus for me as well as no meal planning, but I have a full kitchen and do cook now and then for myself.

Great people, my dad is independent but has some memory challenges and could use more frequent reminders about things that are not routine until he learns them more.(Like how to use the transportation)

I will rate all of these a 5. My experience has been very positive at The Mansions. The staff are all very helpful and professional. I of course would recommend them to others looking for independent living.

The facility is very nice-bright and cheery. Problems have been minor and attended to promptly. Residents all very friendly and welcoming. There is an association of the residents who have monthly meetings to discuss any issues. Food is a 7 on a scale of 1-10, generously served w varied options between fish and meat. Staff helpful and pleasant. Lots of activities for fun and exercise. Only been here 10 days so not totally sure that the monthly rent isn't too much because it is pricey but overall I am happy w the conditions and the service

We give The Mansions at Decatur a solid five stars for all categories. Place is very welcoming. Staff and inmates all nice. Food is good and the variety is sufficient. Activities are keeping my mother in law quite busy. I would recommend to any person seeking a senior building.

The Mansions is a perfect fit for our father with it being independent living. He really benefits from all the activities put on by the great activities coordinator. They have in house therapy and in house nursing care that you can pay for extra if your loved one needs any type of nursing care. The location is very convenient and we do think they take great care of the residents there. One of the most important things to us is the social aspect of living here and the residents can be as social as they want with the activities and during the meals

The building looks brand new and bright and cheery. The residents were laughing and they all spoke to us. The apartments all have patios and washers and dryers. I felt right at home the minute I hit the front door. Staff was very attentive.

My mother has lived here about 3 months now and I am thrilled with her new home. People always say hello to me when I walk in. They have good COVID precautions, checking the temperature of everyone who comes in. There are plenty of activities and people really seem to have fun there. They do numerous trips. There is a physical therapy office right in the building. The rooms are spacious and well designed. The cafeteria makes my mother a special order sandwich for each meal. Everything always feels clean and fresh there. I HIGHLY recommend The Mansions. It is much better than the [community name removed] next door where we had a terrible experience.

What really stood out to us in the beginning was the general community of the residents and the workers there. The workers seem to know and accommodate the residents well without crazy accommodations or being told.

The Mansions at Decatur appeared to be a nice cozy community, which I Iliked, but the rooms were too small for me with little storage space. I really liked the individual porches or balconies of residents.

Highly overrated. There is no outdoor green space or walking paths. The food is straight out of a can and high in sodium. The sales leader couldn’t answer a lot of our questions. Although this community is new, it has a stuffy atmosphere. Not a good fit for my mom. I recommend you do your homework and visit other communities before you sign here.

Went to look for my mother at this community. I was highly disappointed. The sales leader made me and my mother wait 45 minutes before she helped us. Then she was rude because my mother was upset. The community in a whole seemed like they only cared about making money not anything about my mom. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE!!!

Beautiful facility. Staff and residents very friendly and welcoming. Mom liked it so much she is now on the wait list.

I lived in this community for 6 months and recently moved. The food was not that good and limited on menu. The activities were not geared toward all people. I was in a wheel chair and could not do the activities. The staff was not friendly. For what I paid as rent I expected to be treated a lot better than I was. I would not recommend this property to anyone. New and shinny is not always the best bet.

What a beautiful place. Everyone was so helpful and answered all our questions. We even got to talk to some current residents while we had lunch there. The food was great. I was really surprised by all that was included in the price. Can't wait till we are able to move in.

Just recently was in town and toured the facility for my mother-in-law and the facility was immaculate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered for us to have lunch with them and the food was delicious! So many activities planned for the residents, I can not see my mother-in-law getting bored. I believe the price is perfect for all that you receive without any hidden cost.

Went for a tour of the community I found it to be a bit stuffy. I did not get a good feeling about the community. The marketer was cold and not very informative. We had lunch and I've had better. Would not recommend, too expensive
