I was working at a place called The Landmark and was dedicated to making a positive difference there. I had an idea that I believed would help the facility bring in more residents, so I decided to reach out to [name removed], the CEO. We had a great conversation, and he seemed genuinely happy with the plan I suggested. He even agreed that it would be a great way to improve our facility. However, just a few hours after that conversation, I got a phone call from [name removed]. To my surprise, she was incredibly rude and, without any clear explanation, informed me that I was being terminated from my position. I was shocked and confused. Up to this point, no one had ever mentioned any issues with my performance or conduct. I had been working hard and trying to help improve the company. Prior to this, a woman named [name removed] had falsely accused me of something I didn’t do, and I couldn’t help but feel that this accusation might have played a part in the decision to terminate me.

We had an abundance of problems with The Landmark when my dad was there. They had a lot of turn over and other issues. There were a couple of staff members who really worked hard and took better care off my dad. But there were so many others that just didn't care or weren't trained very well. We ended up moving him to a different facility.

It was very clean. They were very good, and always checked on my loved one. The staff was wonderful, and helpful. They were willing to work with me. Make sure that they can, provide special needs for your loved one. It was good value for the money.

My family member currently resides at Landmark and is looking to find a better assisted living place. Three days in a row, they shorted him several of his medications because they ran out of stock. That could be dangerous! When he presses the "call for help" button, the staff takes up to an hour to respond, which could be too late in the case of a medical emergency. When he makes a request or asks a question, often they don't get back to him. Dinner is served around 4:45pm, and breakfast is served at 6:45am ... a 14 hour stretch between meals! They don't make much effort to accommodate my family member's special dietary needs. There are roaches ... I caught one and showed it to the front desk staff. The upsides of the community are: it offers activities for residents, the staff is friendly to visitors, and the common areas are nice. Landmark is supposed to be one of the better assisted living places, so my family member worries he won't find a good quality place elsewhere, either.

The person that you meet first at this community is very efficient and friendly and accommodating, knowledgeable and sincere. Overall she just wanted to please and help in any way that she could with the community and was an all around lovely person. They have activities like music, bingo, outdoor activities and more for the residents to do to stay busy in the community. The people, the nurses everyone is great.

I did not care for The Landmark. They were not as clean as other facilities I visited.
We chose The Landmark mostly because of the location, it is close to family. It is also right across from the hospital. It is in a lovely setting surrounded by big trees and beautiful landscaping. It is not big and glamorous, the facility is on one story and is more homey feeling. The staff are excellent. I feel my mom is getting great care and we would highly recommend them to others looking.

This was a very clean community. It felt more geared for the younger residents than the older population. The had activities going on all the time. This is a brand new building and very handicapped accessible.
Our loved one is in very good health for her advanced age. We just felt like The Landmark was for people who were not in as good shape as she is. It felt more like a nursing home than an assisted living facility, for people with a lot of medical issues. And we were looking for a place where she could be more active and social.
We have been overall happy with our experience at the Landmark. We are able to go in now and visit loved ones which is really nice. The only complaint I have is that it seems like they are short staffed but that could be due to the pandemic. I think it would be nicer if the staff could facetime with families more often, like once a week per resident so we could see them more often. I think that things will get better as they start having more activities and opening things up. I would recommend to others looking, it is clean and the food was very good. they have a menu that you can choose.
Response from The Landmark
July 22, 2021Thank you so much for the time to review our community! Thank you for recommending us and entrusting us with the care of your loved one.
We chose The Landmark because the first point of contact I had was excellent. It was very organized and they were just very helpful in helping us navigate the process. The room sizes here are nice compared to others we looked into. They have been good with communication and I would recommend them to others looking.

Response from The Landmark
April 21, 2021Thank you so much Cathy, we are honored to serve your loved one.
My loved one loves eating in the dining room. If my loved one has any problems with food or missed due to appointments the community will fix something special for my loved one. The Landmark is on one floor and have physical therapy center. There are only around 30 residents and everyone knows the families and residents in the community. This has been a blessing to us and my loved one. The community even put a picture of my loved one up with his name on their wall of veteran's. It is the value of being known.

The tour at this community is very nice. We like the staff which is nice and caring. The dining area was nice, but we did not have a meal. The residents seem happy with the care that they are rceiving. We liked this community, but we wanted a location that was closer to home. We would recommend that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

A Place for Mom has scored The Landmark 5.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
