The staff has a high caring level and does an excellent job communicating with me. The housekeeping is dependable. Moving in was easy -- they provide large flat carts and luggage carriers that came in really handy. My mom loves the meals. I see what she's being served and I wouldn't care for it. It's basic cafeteria style food. It's good if you're not a picky eater. It's nutritious and covers the food groups. I would absolutely recommend The Grand Royale to anyone. They are exhibiting some signs of financial trouble. The facility is nice and clean, though they just cut some staff, so that could change. The portions have been good. The quality is average. They recently cut from 3 meals a day to 2 meals a day. They've also implemented an extra cost to have food delivered to your apartment. I've always been a little disappointed in the quality of the activities. She is starting to participate in them more, but I think she wants more options. Despite the negatives, it's a very nice little apartment for the price.

Their food service is terrible. They admit they are short staffed in the kitchen, but it's the food that they purchase, no oversight of preparation, and poor communication between residents and the kitchen. Now, [name removed] and the maintenance staff have been amazing. Just truly accommodating. The folks have been told by more than one resident who have relocated to a different facility the reason they left was due to poor food for the cost of the facility. A few hundred dollars more and they literally get quality food. The facility has the best homey comfortable decor in the public areas. We all feel like they could put more effort into paying the food service department more and hiring people who know what they are doing

We do not really have much to compare it to as this is the first place that my loved one has stayed. The staff have been very accommodating. They can accommodate you pretty much with any room that your budget is able to swing! One thing I am irritated about - they promised a pizza shop and a bar, they have both but not using! It was part of the dog and pony show! And it did help with the thought of using and enjoying the two. Overall I would absolutely recommend The Grande Royal - I wish we would have moved our loved one here a long time ago!

This is a winner, if looking for a place for a loved one. I was leary since my mom was harmed in a Blue Springs, MO "brand new" non-care, un-skilled facility. The staff and the Blue Springs, MO facility were horrid and I would not want to see anyone treated so poorly. The staff, EVERYONE at Grand Royale, is excellent and you can see the level of care when you visit. The facilities are fantastic with lots of activities. I don't worry about my mom being mistreated. The phone is answered and the staff is aware of residents and seem to always know who is in the building. This is a quiet beautiful setting. Mom loves the food and the residents are great about helping each other during meal time. I could go on because I know my mom is safe, happy and if she can't be with me - this is a winner in all categories.

I toured this community and it was ok. The place is clean and everyone was nice. They have extra amenities including a movie theatre and a salon. However, I didn't see a lot of resident activity other than dinner time. I just didn't get a community type of feel here and that's what we were looking for.
The facility is really nice and clean place, with friendly people. The caregivers overall are good.

One of the biggest deciding factors for us is that The Grand Royale offered more services to our loved one for much less money. Everyone there is super friendly and are always willing to help and go above and beyond. He does say the meals and dining service is a hit or miss - just the other night they had pizza and said it was not very good but they do have some nice activities going on there for the residents to get involved in however our loved one just is not able to participate in them. We would recommend this community to other families based on our current experience.

My loved one, does not complain too much, and likes the food, but they serve things that loved one does not eat. It's a small community. There is not too many activites but they have movie nights. There is not too many formal activities, but they try to get residents more engaged, and involved. It is very expensive. My loved one started in independent living , and really liked it there. My loved one is now in assisted living, and is getting the assistance that they need physically.

We think independent living would be just fine for your loved one, but when it comes to assisted living there are some difficulties and inconsistencies. We do understand just like everyone else the struggling with staffing, but the care was just a little hit or miss. They have super heavy door that do not have an automatic open button so for those that are weaker, use a walker or wheelchair that might become a big obstacle. In the one bedrooms they have an nurse call button in the bedroom and bathroom which is great but not the living room. The move in process was pretty frustrating - it is almost like they were not expecting us - no one was there to greet us and the nurse that was there was very rude and not helpful. We think it is a nice community it just needs some improvements

This was a great place. It had just opened, and there was only one resident there so far when we toured. It was a beautiful place - they had done a great job of remodeling it from a nursing home. The apartments were beautiful. The amenities were great. They had mostly 1-bedroom units with smaller rooms., with no garage space at all. We were really hoping to have a garage. We chose a different community because Dad needed to go to someplace with more people for his first experience in a retirement home. But we would definitely go back there and take another look if I thought we needed to move him.

A Place for Mom has scored The Grand Royale 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
