I have lived here at Bristol almost a year. I love it here. The manager and her staff are helpful. They go out of there way to be helpful. I like to be out of my room and watch TV and talk to the staff when they are cooking. They always have time for me. I feel like they are my family. I'm glad I moved here I'm not lonely anymore.... I currently have a family member here and have for some time. 1- Food Allowance is $[removed]/day per resident. If meals were planned and food bought in bulk and planned ahead this might be possible. But this is not the case. Several family members bring in warm hearty meals for residents. 2- Cleanliness, hmmm. Only 1 employee who cleans. They can only do what time allows. Admin REFUSES to clean as they say this is NOT THEIR JOB. 3- Activities- Bingo is played when residents organize themselves to play. Other than that, NO. 4- Safety- Doors are not checked at night, there is NOT an employee who is awake/working at night as required by State of MO. 5- Meds- Meds are rarely correct, NEVER on time and meds are not refilled in a timely manner and some go without meds.

My Mother has moved, we had a horrible experience at Bristol Manor of Smithville. The food is lacking. They do not offer any activities at all as advertised. There were several errors with her medication and concerns with staff. All of these were reported to Bristol Manor staff with no resolution. Our family reported their facility to the state. They have literally one staff member and do not provide the cleaning services at all. There is a 98 year old women there that has to clean her own room, which is supposed to be a part of their offered services. It was a deplorable experience and I would never recommend this facility to anyone.

This facility is a disgrace. They lied to our family from day 1. They barely provide low quality meals. The "admin" is also the overnight staff and sleeps during that time and does not even check on the residents, even though they are supposed to do 2 hour safety checks. They do not over ANY activities as advertised, and they do not take any concerns or complaints seriously.. you are basically fed lip service but nothing changes. They do not clean or do laundry as they are supposed to, or even offer to. This is NOT somewhere I would send a family member unless you just want a massive headache. They literally prepare crappy meals and pass medications, with frequent medication errors. They try to threaten you if you express valied complaints or concerns. They do not care one bit about their residents. I'm sure they will reply to this with more lies. I have several other family members I can put you in touch with if you need verification that is company is horrible and should be ashamed.

Response from Bristol Manor of Smithville
August 2, 2022We regret that you feel that your experience with this facility has been negative. We take complaints/concerns seriously and we understand that perceptions of circumstances vary from individual to individual. Staffing continues to be a crisis for almost all businesses throughout the United States and unfortunately, this facility like many others state-wide has had challenges in that area. We continue to strive for high standards and it is hopeful that health care facilities throughout the state will rebound from the challenges that Covid has created. To address the other issues that you have mentioned: Not all of those items listed are factual as you have stated them. Services are vastly different for our licensure of Residential care in comparison to Assisted Living and skilled facilities.
They go through admins almost weekly, food is that of what would be fed to a low budget daycare, upper administration lies and is more concerned with making money than caring for our elderly. If you stand up to the admins for family they will threaten you. There are NO activities for the residents like stated on their site and the staff does not keep the place clean or safe.

This facility seems very pleasant. It is a smaller community which Has its pluses and minuses. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and pleasant. I do not have anything negative to say about this facility at all.

February 26, 2020Thank You for your review! It is our pleasure to have you with us! Regards, Bristol Care
When we walked into the home it felt like home. The staff was cooking and it smelled wonderful. Our mother loves living there. The administrator and her staff are so sweet. Mom loves having her hair braided and can no longer do this so the staff always helps mom with the little things she can no longer do for herself. If you are looking for a place for your parent I would highly recommend this home.

If you're looking for assisted living for your loved one and they want more than "isolation" than don't look here. Yes, they will provide meals (although there are many left overs and cold breakfasts) and they will dispense medicine but that is all they do at Bristol manor. They claim to have organized activities...NOT TRUE! The lights are turned off after every meal and everyone is encouraged to stay in their bedroom. There is no assistance for daily living. The residents are forced into isolation. They claim to have 24 hours staffed employees... NOT TRUE. they don't have employees working at night. They tell you they do but believe me from first hand experience, THEY DON'T. The Administrator and her children live on site but are unavailable at night. They had a resident walk away unnoticed because no one was working. This 77 year old woman was lost for 8 hours in 100° heat. She's lucky she survived. If you care about your family member and they need assistance don't put them in Bristol manor. It is designed for people who want to be left alone.

February 17, 2020Ms. Scott, The details you are giving regarding this facility are not accurate. I encourage you to reach out to me to discuss this matter. Regards,
My mother was at Bristol manor for 4 months. They talk a great story but are very lazy about providing services. The administrator's grown sons who live there with her have foul mouths. They also throw temper tantrums. They talk to the residents like they are children. They advertise that they are staffed 24 hours a day but they are NOT. They sleep at night and put up notes telling residents to not bother them. They talk about the residents behind their backs. They complain they don't have enough money for food and at the end of the month the meals are sparse and cheap nasty food.

February 17, 2020Ms. Hannah, it is unfortunate that you have chosen to use this format to protest a matter that does not involve care of residents in this facility. Regards,
Bristol used to be a warm loving environment, with great food and loving help. Unfortunately that has changed dramatically July 2018. New managers. Don't put your loved ones here.

We are happy with this nice community for my mom's care. We like the caring staff and the cleanliness of the community. They offer a good healthy menu. The list of activities are helpful for the residents who are able to participate. We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one.

I was not impressed with this community. The community looked run down and there was an odor when we visited. The people we met during the tour were nice.

Very pleased with Bristol Manor at Smithville, MO. The food is excellent and the people are very helpful and friendly. Small, homey atmosphere. Only downside is the parking lot not being cleared of ice and snow in the winter.
