This place is amazing! The facility is beautiful, clean and very reasonably priced. Lesa and Ashley were amazing in helping us navigate and pull everything together to get my mom situated in her new room. All the staff is so caring and nice. Good food and menu was awesome. faith based concern/care with resident & their family responsive engaging nice place to call home Food was very bland which may be the norm for an aging population/ i believe (not confirmed) it prepared at the same time the assisted living side is served, then the memory care are served so it often seems 'warmed over' although, i have only eaten there a few times. the last time i was there she was prepared a burger since she didn't like/ear what was being served and it seemed fresher

I would say the staff tries their best and gave a good effort to be attentive to all patients. That's in both units. It's the executive director and the director of nursing that is difficult to get a hold of unless you email them. Then, we had to follow up with them when they told us they'd get back to us. Also, their introductory procedure is a little repetitive, and they still needed some of the info again. The WiFi on the 1st floor was sketchy for guests. When our parents needed extra attention, we received it in an urgent manner. With extra cost of course. Overall, after being at a much higher priced community; the gardens was definitely the better fit at a lower cost with better staff.

My loved one is currently a resident at The Gardens at Barry Road and overall the experience at this facility has been okay so far. The cleanliness, care services and activities are okay. The food is not good. My main concern is with the staff, they have three shifts. The staff on the second shift are great, the other two shifts not so much. Overall, it's not a bad place, even though my ratings are low.

What we like the most about The Gardens at Barry Road are the staff members, they are friendly and very open. The community has easy access to the memory care side of the facility. The other residents are friendly and provide good conversations.

Response from The Gardens at Barry Road
March 22, 2023Thank you for visiting The Gardens at Barry Road. We appreciate your kind comments and look forward to serving you and your family.
It was confusing in the beginning due to new staff learning and not enough staff. Not all details on care plans are covered on a regular consistent basis. Nothing large, but annoying, to say the least, knowing it's listed on their care plans. Again, I've been told is due to either staff turn over and or not enough staff. Nutritious, but the quality of the actual food items is sometimes questionable. They don't get involved in many. It is a nice community but there are some areas of improvement. Our family feels they need to improve initiating the details of the care plans with the residence and the staff. Also, upgrade the quality of the actual food items on the menu.

They do their best with what they have. Somedays the food is good, and sometimes it's not. The breakfast is good. The value for the money is pretty good. I picked this community, because It's close to my home.

So far, our experience with The Gardens at Barry Road has been great. They have a ton of activities provided for the residents and mom is getting involved and interacting with others which makes us happy. Whenever I ask mom how they treat her she says that they are all so friendly and caring, she is much happier here than she was at her previous facility. We have no complaints at all.
The staff care for the residents with such compassion and love. It truly is a great place with the highest care standards possible.

Response from The Gardens at Barry Road
June 13, 2022Thank you for your comments, Jenn, Your leadership in the Memory Care Neighborhood has taken the Resident Experience to the next level! When I visit, I love to see the residents engaged in Music Therapy, painting classes, games, and other stimulating activities. The Team has come together to make this an amazing neighborhoog.
I am so proud of the team at The Gardens at Barry Road. Their dedication to serving our residents is second-to-none. So many of our team members go above and beyond their "job descriptions" to do whatever needs to be done to fulfill a need or preference of a resident. Every time I visit to check in on this community, I hear from multiple residents that they are most thankful for the people who care for them. Many residents even tell me that if a certain employee ever leaves, they are going right out the door with them. I hear this about multiple different employees from different residents. This is a community that is more like a family. I love it!

I visited The Gardens and during my tour I met many of the care partners. I asked each one how long they had worked there...many were five plus years. We were invited to stay for lunch. The food was Great! The soup was from scratch and tasted wonderful. We liked the onebedroom apartment that has a walk out to the gardens. Really liked this place.

This was our third choice. The tour was nice and had a perfect room for them, and it was very close to the kitchen area. They just did not have memory care avail at the time.
We were not impressed with this community and it was not what we were looking for for our loved one. It just did not give off the right feeling.
This is where our mother currently lives. They are horrible. Three Executive Directors, three memory care team leads & managers in an year in a half. Currently no Activity Manager or personal. The are using employees from the Assisted Living side to fill in. No training on memory care. They do not know the residents and their needs. We would not recommend.

The few times that we have been able to visit the community, the cleanliness of the place is just exceptional, and house keeping comes in every day to clean our loved ones room and the bathroom. The staff members are fantastic and the care services are beyond excellent. The maintenance guys came to help us move her to a different room and they even came back the next day to hang up her paintings. Our loved one participates in the exercise classes every morning, she loves the arts and crafts and she enjoys the church services every Sunday.

The care services are good, and they have great activities going on. We like that this community is kind of small, so the staff really gets to know the residents. Every staff member that we have encountered just has a great disposition and seem to really enjoy what they doing.

We looked at three other places, and The Gardens had very warm colors and we know right then our loved one would feel at home. She really enjoyed playing bingo before COVID, and her room was more on the smaller side but it was adequate for her. She did hate the food, the quality was not good. One negative we did have, is once she was moved out of the community, we were not able to go in right away to get her furniture due to COVID. We were told no one was on the waiting list for that room, and we would not be charged for not picking up the furniture right away. Once we did pick it up we were actually charged. However, once our mother passed, the staff sent us a dozen roses, which we were really touched by. They loved her and were very kind towards us.
