Response from The Chelsea at New City
August 28, 2024Gail - thank you for the review of The Chelsea at New City. We have a great team there and, for us, it's all about our culture and people. Thank you for your feedback and we will discuss with our team at New City.
After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to move my mother from our home to a memory care unit in November 2023. We chose The Chelsea at New City (Atria). Our decision was made with the help of the Community Sales Director who guided us through every aspect of the process and continued to keep in touch with us over the past 5 months. The transition from home to the memory unit came with challenges for my mother but with the constant guidance of the unit Director and caring staff she has settled in nicely. Our family takes comfort in knowing that she is well cared for and is kept safe at all times.

Response from The Chelsea at New City
August 2, 2023Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We take them seriously. I see that our Executive Director has personally connected with you and is looking into the matter, and I have shared these comments with the community Regional Vice President. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please don’t hesitate to contact the Executive Director, and I know she is happy to listen.
I toured this facility. It was beautiful and new and huge, however it was way too big for Mom. She needed a cozier community. The price was way more, as well.
Yes the place looks like a hotel and very clean, food and food service very good. The problem is they are very understaffed and becoming dangerous(People falling etc..) You must keep calling them to get things done. The nursing center keeps losing staff and just not qualified.. They raised the fees incredibly as well after a year which I find immoral Everyone is pleasant enough but unfortunately, it seems they are understaffed.

Response from The Chelsea at New City
June 15, 2023Hello Joe, We appreciate your concerns. Our priority is to provide quality service to our residents and families. I’ve shared your review with the Executive Director and Regional Vice President, and they’re available if you want to speak with them about your time with us. I’m also available at CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com.
It's very expensive but you do get what you pay for. It's like a cruise ship on land. They are fast to respond and assist. They will pretty much cater to any/all requests. They were in a totally separate league than the others. Zero comparison when it came to NOT looking like an assisted living facility. It really LOOKS like an upscale apartment complex.

My loved one had adjustment problems and we were concerned that it would present a problem with staff being able to handle them. After discussing this we were assured that there would be no problem and we thereafter agreed to move them to the facility. Unfortunately their assurances were false and the team failed my loved one. They sent them to the hospital numerous times, essentially for a time out, repeatedly, before they had me bring my loved one to a behavioral health unit in a local hospital, which was weeks later. It was terrible and they should've never told us they could handle my loved one because there was never any indication that they could have handled them once we signed and paid.

Newer facility. Menu looked good. Very good activities listed. Phenomenal staff. I would move in there right now. It's like a resort.
The staff is very welcoming and the community is immaculate.

My parents moved into Atria in October. I could not have found a better place for them to live. After lots of research, phone calls and tours. We decided on Atria New City. I have siblings involved in making the decision but independently we all came to the same conclusion. We wanted the best for my parents and had full faith in the staff. They have not disappointed. I would strongly encourage anyone who is considering senior housing to go to Atria New City

Our tour experience with Atria New City was great. They really took their time with us and were thorough in answering all of my questions that I had. The facility is beautiful and brand new. It is state of the art and really has all of the bells and whistles. The price was very expensive and they seemed set on that and did not want to come down, so we went with another facility.

We chose Atria New City because it was clean, the facility was brand new, location was great for us, and the director took us out to dinner. When you walk in you get a resort/hotel type feel, it does not feel like a nursing home at all. The room sizes are very nice and spacious. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and that is the most important thing to us. I would recommend to others and already have.

My mother mother move into Atria New City three weeks ago. I could not be more pleased with how the staff helped my mother transition from her own home. The chef had dinner waiting for us the day we moved mom in. Big thank you to everyone there.

Atria at New City is a beautiful, brand new facility that is everything a family could hope for. The attention to detail for residents shows a level of care that is obvious. However, make sure you ask for details about the level of medical care they will provide before you put down a deposit. We had put our deposit down and had begun to move furniture in to the apartment we thought we had secured for my father. It wasn’t until a week before he was supposed to move in, that Atria told us that he had medication and medical “red flags “they were concerned about. We were devastated to find out yesterday he would not be accepted into their facility. We had to remove furniture we had delivered and I needed to frantically find a new facility for my father. Atria is a “social model” that has specific guidelines we were unaware of for medical needs. Make sure you know in detail what the tier package you are buying into offers before you put a deposit down and get your hopes up.

The team at Atria New City are truly wonderful. Some of the most knowledgeable and compassionate people I have met. They helped guide my mother in making the tough decision in making the move to to the community. The building is absolutely gorgeous. I have no qualms moving my mother here when they officially open.
