The Bristal in Massapequa has been absolutely amazing with the care they have shown my Mom. The level of patience and compassion as well as attention and treatment extended has really made a very positive impact, especially since we relocated my Mom from out of state. All the staff but also including [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed] have really been on top of my Mom's needs with very individualized care. We feel like my Mom gets extra special treatment, but when visiting the facility we see that others are also treated the same way. Thank you Bristal, we are very thankful and grateful for you!... If you plan on moving into this place do not take the bed. Unless you want you love one sleeping with bedbugs.

The Bristal is great! My uncle is in their memory care unit. The care here is great, and they know the residents. The staff is very easy to communicate with. The community has allowed virtual visits for the residents and their loved ones. The food is good.

We chose the Bristal at Massapequa because they were better able to meet my mother in laws medical needs. My mother in law was in a studio and it was fine for pm person, the rooms are adequate. The food is fabulous, they have a lot of variety. I would recommend this community to a friend or family member.

The community has been very clean in the past and the staff has been quite friendly with us. They do charge for every little thing for the care, which we don't think is right. We also do not think there is enough activities for our loved one to participate in. We do not think The Bristal At Massapequa is a good value for the price.

The community is usually pretty clean. The staff does a great job interacting with the residents and they know them all by name. They also have a rapport with each of them and have no problem accommodating you when they can. They are also very attentive and listen to our concerns. They do an excellent job with my mother's care and are very accommodating. It gives me peace of mind that she is there. The activities at the community are good and my mother loves the bingo. Other than that, they bring in outside entertainment and will bring the residents on off-community trips. While expensive, The Bristal does give very good care for the price you pay. If you can afford this community it is a good value.

The Bristal was at the higher end of the facilities we visited and had the nicest facility from a design perspective. The Director was very nice and stayed in touch with me by phone before and after our visit. The price was a bit high for our budget considering that every additional service would add on costs (medication management, insulin would be more as it was considered diabetes management, etc.) Beyond the cost, we barely saw any residents so it was difficult to get a feel for the "culture' of what it would be like to live there.

Response from The Bristal at Massapequa
March 7, 2019Thank you for visiting us at The Bristal and for taking the time to compose this constructive review. At The Bristal, we pride ourselves in the differentiation we bring to the industry and the unique choice that difference presents to our residents and their families — which is, the ability to enjoy an exceptional lifestyle in assisted living, while still experiencing truly extraordinary care. It is a singular combination and one that sets The Bristal apart. While it is true, The Bristal has never opted to be the market’s low-cost solution, the value our residents and their families realize is immense. In fact, here are just some of the services and amenities included in the rent: choice of apartment, with kitchenette, private bathroom and emergency response system; all utilities; three delicious meals served daily in a country club setting; refreshments available throughout the day; daily housekeeping and weekly laundering of bed and bath linens, plus personal laundry, if desired; 24-hour security surveillance; daily activities and events; scheduled outings with transportation; and much, much more. There’s also an onsite fitness center, cinema, salon, bistro and outdoor courtyard. When you factor in the expert, compassionate, round-the-clock staff, and the extraordinary care they deliver, we’re a value unlike any other. We thank you for considering The Bristal as a senior living resource for your family, and we hope to see you again.
My dad spent 2 weeks in the Reflections area of thr Bristal in Massapequa. Unfortunately for numerous reasons it was not a good fit. He went in walking with a walker but was given a room very far from the dining/activities area so within a few days could no longer walk alone. He fell 2x while in his room and was sent to hospital. One time he arrived at the hospital wearing only a shirt and his pill up- no pants or shoes and it was November in NY. When he returned from the hospital i told the woman in charge of memory care area that he was going to get a wheelchair. Her response was “well he better ve able to sel-propel it “! I had to get him a private nurse for12 hoursa day for safety but i thnk it was also ao they didn’t have to care for him. I had to ask to get them to help him shave. All in all it is a pretty place and good as lonf as you don’t need assistance

My mom has been in the Bristal of Massapequa for 5 1/2 years.....I can't believe how fast the time has gone by....but I am so happy that she is @ the Bristal and thriving!! The staff can't do enough for the residents and they know each resident & family member by name....They have helped her to maintain some of her independence and for that & for their love and support, I am very grateful. As I have said before, I can't give her the life she had before with my dad, but this is the best life that I can give her now....thanks to The Bristal and its wonderful staff.

Most reasonable price wise, but for a shared room. Lots of activities. Most of the residents seemed engaged and happy. Clean and secure facility for memory care. Warm atmosphere. Nice staff interaction.

My father is still adjusting to this community, but I do feel he is in a very safe community. It has been a transition for the family with my father's move to this community. We do know he is in good hands, and receiving good care. They have a good staff. The director is very good. They are very responsive, and great with their communication. They have a lot of resources available for the residents. This is a community I would recommend, it is working out well for my family.

I liked the Bristal. When I am ready that is probably where he would go. I like the room and it seemed to have ample room for all the residents

I thought the community was nice but it seemed a little institutional for me. It was clean and pretty and offered lots of activities. However I thought the shared rooms were a little small, and did not offer much privacy.

Response from The Bristal at Massapequa
April 3, 2015Thank you for your feedback. We offer a variety of floor plans to accommodate a diverse range of budgetary needs. Our shared room layouts come with a separate bedroom and bathroom for each resident; they share only a common entrance. It’s an excellent and affordable solution for enabling a greater number of families to experience the 5-star Assisted Living amenities The Bristal is known for providing as well as the welcome sense of community our residents enjoy.
They are very, very good. We are in the reflections unit and everything is covered in the price here. In the wellness side of things, all the needs are extra. The staff helped make a rough transition easier. They are helping them get settled and us as well. They are very active, and have a lot of things scheduled. The staff from the aides to the recreation people all of them have been invaluable to us, and are worth their weight in gold. They also give us a full calendar and we know what's going on. The food seems to be good, and they have lovely desserts, and they seem to be eating well. I like the location as well, we can visit anytime, and they never make me feel like I am imposing. They have really help our family with this as well.

Response from The Bristal at Massapequa
April 3, 2015Thank you! Thank you!
The attention was phenomenal. She had a very tough time adjusting, and they were wonderful with her. They would call me several times a week and they would send text messages with pictures of her participating in the different activities. She wasn't there long, but I couldn't have asked for care that made me more comfortable. The nurses and the social worker especially were unbelievably good.
