I asked my mother to give me her overall opinion of living at Stillwater, and she said "I am very comfortable here. I think the staff is great and I enjoy the other residents. I can go walking in the hallways to get some exercise and go across the hall to the TV room to work on a jigsaw puzzle. The meals are ok - some meals are better than others! [name removed] and [name removed]are excellent and I am happy to be here!" For #3, overall, the staff is wonderful - very professional and approachable and caring. But every now and then, there will be a staff member that maybe is not as helpful or friendly, so that's why the 4.5 score. And there have been a couple of bumps in the road with the quality of care (isolated occurrences), but again, overall, the care is wonderful. No place is perfect, they occasionally seem short-staffed, but [name removed], the Assisted Living Administrator, is so good. He is very hands - on, patient, responsive and very easy to talk to. He usually gets back to me quickly with any questions or concerns I have. Same with [name removed], who is the Wellness Coordinator/RN for the assisted living - she really takes the time to hear any concerns we have, and gets back to us as soon as she can with answers to our questions. Both [name removed] and [name removed] show a genuine care and concern for the residents and their family. Even though my mother doesn't participate in a lot of the activities, they do offer a good variety of things to do. And value for cost is really very good, especially in comparison to some of the other facilities in the area that we visited last year. They don't charge a separate fee for things like giving medication or for doing laundry. And they do separate loads of laundry for each resident, right on the unit, which makes it much easier to keep track of the clothes. I feel very confident in the staff that they are taking good care of my mother, which definitely brings all of the family peace of mind - overall, it has been a very positive experience and I am so grateful to A Place For Mom for pointing me in the right direction to take a look at Stillwater - we didn't know where to turn, and you all helped so much - thank you!... Since my dad was in the memory care locked unit, it was difficult. The other areas of the facility seemed nicer which is expected. But the staff in his unit for the most part, were great; very attentive and caring.

Is really a good place. The grounds are nice and the rooms big. Reasonably priced.

I love the setup. It's apartment style, so it's more of a home feeling than a facility. My mom has all her furniture and belongings. I am not completely satisfied with the level of care. It includes 100 % care, but not all of my mom's needs have been met. Family has to frequently intervene to have her needs met. This is a memory care community and the staff need more adequate training on dealing with dementia patients and all the symptoms. I am still unsure about recommending this facility.

The place is nice and clean. My friend is not thrilled with the food. The value for the money is affordable. The Director has been very responsive to my concerns and questions. Overall, I would recommend to others families.

They are often short staffed. The staff is friendly and so nice. My loved one has no complaints about the food. The activities is very good, and they are always coming to get my loved one to participate. We picked this community because, another loved one was at the same facility, it's clean, very nice, and it's a nice atmosphere. They need more help, so they need to hire more staff.

We chose Stillwater because of the value for the money, they take Medicaid, and also we live in the area so it is close by for family. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. My loved one was apprehensive about moving and they were very patient with her and understanding, they made her feel comfortable. She loves the food they serve and she has also made a lot of friends already. I would and have recommended them to others I know.

I did not like this community. The minute that I walked in I knew that I was not going to go here. They gave me the tour but it was just not for me, I did not like what I saw
Our mother needed to be placed in the memory care unit of a facility. We researched many and chose Stillwater. I have read the previous reviews and cannot agree with some of the negative comments. We have found that the current director truly cares, gets to know each of the residents, and acts on any concern we have raised. My mother expects and receives decent food, timely care and room cleaning, and consistent attention to her medical needs. The facility also holds at least three daily activities for residents and has special parties each month. Today, mom is joining others in watching a movie. yesterday, she had exercise class at 11, BINGO at 1:30, and Karaoke (group) at 3. Look at the state ratings for any facility you may consider. Visit the facility. This one is bright, active, and caring. Mom is happy and well.

Most importantly, my parents are safe there. That's a huge priority for me. Unfortunately, the bad news is I feel as though Stillwater is understaffed, and it has affected the care that they're providing in a big way. The care, when given, is limited. The food service is slow, again due to understaffing. Our loved ones often wait 45 minutes to an hour for the food to be delivered, and the quality is poor. But their screenings are really good, and they distribute medication well. Management is very good as well. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the directors/managers, and he was wonderful, from touring, to move-in, to this day. He's a true gentleman and really good at what he does.

all day for months I was with my father and his care was still poor. He was so depressed being there he starved himself to death. He had a stroke prior to not eating he was in a single room.without explaining to my father what was going on they collected his things and wheeled him down the hall to a shared room w him saying “this isn’t fair!”almost non verbal from stroke.stopped eating that day all of his dignity was gone.begged for him to get a hospice room they said no.This lady didn’t like my mom-she called the shots she took it out on my family.hospice ordered comfort meds-no nurse followed up.FINALY got his first dose and this beautiful man was out of pain.they missed next dose. “oh I thought he got it”He woke writhing in pain.He died in my arms in two days a curtain away from a stranger with a tv blaring. His entire life lead up to that moment and you didn’t even let us have that. You should be so ashamed of yourselves.

This past summer, we were fortunate enough to meet the new Assisted Living Manager [name removed]. I went to Cortland Place unannounced and looked around then asked to meet Director to inquire about respite stay for mom. I can't say enough about our positive experience at Cortland Place. The wellness team, the activities team and management went above and beyond to prepare for and keep my mom safe and entertained during her stay. While away, I would call during the day and in the evenings and staff always took my call and gave me an update on mom. The entertainment and activities personnel-[names removed] were very kind to mom. Thank u to all the staff including nite staff for your kindnesses. My compliments to the Director [name removed] for his hard work and attention to detail.

We visited this community when we were looking into care options for our loved one. I thought this place looked very nice, and everyone seemed very friendly. However, when I looked into things they had quite a few negative marks from the state health board. I would really be thorough and make sure they've cleared those issues up before deciding on this place.

A Place for Mom has scored Stillwater Assisted Living Community 7.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
