They had excellent memory care support, excellent care attendants, and my dad had male attendants which helped a lot when he got to where he couldn't walk. They were super helpful in coordinating with primary on medication, had lots of fun activities, wonderful meals and they had church services every week which my dad loved. We had been providing dementia care for mom full-time with in-home support while we were at work. We started this process thinking that we’d just get a feel for the facilities that were out there for the future. We toured the Highlands in Providence and at Wingate. People at both places were just so kind and knowledgeable it made me feel like mom would probably get a higher level of care from memory care professionals at this stage. We chose Wingate because we knew how much she’d liked very the courtyard garden. The staff is so knowledgeable about Alzheimer’s and the needs of residents. I initially struggled with some guilt but each time I visit, she looks happy and engaged. I just get to make her feel loved and help her look forward to the next event in her schedule. I really feel like I’ll be able to enjoy my remaining time with her more because now I get to just be her daughter.

BEAUTIFUL grounds, very helpful pleasant staff We only looked at studio room which we find adequate. Mom is so busy socializing with other residents and staff she barely spends any time in her room.

The staff at Wingate went out of their way to insure that my Mom would have a place to go upon her release from rehab with very little notice. She initially went in as a respite care resident. After a couple of weeks, the staff and other residents were so welcoming she decided that she would like to make Wingate her permanent home. It has been a wonderful transition for her and she is thriving.

Wingate Residence on Blackstone Boulevard was an exceptional facility. My loved ones were at another Wingate facility and it was excellent all around.
My loved one is a resident here and we absolutely love it. The living areas are large, they offer a ton of activities, great food. The staff is excellent very caring and hands on all the time. They do hourly checks on residents, there's actually a button in each resident's room for the staff to push to verify that the hourly check has been done. My loved one is back to being active and involved in activities now that we've moved her to this facility. Plus, the cost is less than many in the area.

I toured this community and I really liked it. I was impressed with the caring staff and the cleanliness. However, it was more expensive than some of the other options in the area.
We picked this community because, they had a special wing for dementia care support, and offered special activities geared towards people with dementia. Also, the staff to resident ratio was smaller, and they had extra amenties, which was a more reasonable rate than other places. They were a more open and brighter community.

We had a very good tour at Wingate Residences, but it just wasn’t for us. The apartments were too small.
The staff members are all very friendly and very kind. The care services were good we have had no complaints and our loved one seems to enjoy the meals. The only complaint he did have was just not being able to mingle with the other residents, have visitors and do the activities because of the covid restrictions. However we would still recommend this community to others.

We chose this facility after looking at a few because it seemed more reasonable than the others we looked at. We liked the layout, the staff, the cleanliness, etc. It is a very beautiful and pleasant campus. They were very good with communication and got back to us quickly about things. We did have an incident where my mom had a doctors appointment that we had cancelled and they transported my mom to that appointment and no one went to that appointment with her which could have been dangerous. Overall the care was good and we were satisfied. She had fallen and went to the hospital and when she came back they felt they did not have enough supervision so we had to move her. If it were not for that fall, she would still be here. I would recommend them to others looking.

The entire staff is so friendly and attentive, from the ladies at the front desk to the aides and nurses. They are wonderful! Mom and Dad have been at Wingate for almost a year and we have been very pleased with the care they are receiving. The staff is very accommodating and we have developed a strong partnership in the care of my parents. Mom and Dad are involved in activities through out the day and especially enjoy the music (they even dance!) and socializing with residents in the beautiful dining area.

Moving mom here was a much better choice it has what we were looking for to handle her care. It's a located memory care community and they have trained staffing to handle my mother's outburst and paranoia. They were recently just sold so there are new staffing and new management and they are very professional and kind and very knowledable. They are definitely living up to what they promised as far as the extent of care they would provide for mom. The community is clean and odor free. The residents seem to be well taken care of.

Response from Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard
September 20, 2017Thank you for your kind words! Our team takes pride in the care we provide our residents, and we are so glad to have you and your family as part of our Wingate family now.
The community was nice and the people were very helpful and gave us a wonderful tour. When I was touring the dining hall it just was so fancy. It seemed a little like it was upper class. The residents were all dressed in nice close and this just was not a good fit for my father in law.

Everyone at Wingate has been more than helpful in getting my mother settled after a long trip from CA. From finding a doctor who can visit her on site, to making appointments with the visiting hair dresser or podiatrist, they have made her transition very easy. People with Alzheimer's don't always make life easy and I am very appreciative of the care and consideration she has been given. The campus is beautiful, with well kept gardens, lots of grass, trees, flowers, flat paths and benches - perfect for a 92 year old. The memory care section is circular, with many of the rooms overlooking a lovely interior garden, also filled with flowers, bushes, paths and places to sit. The residents have access to that area anytime, weather permitting. There are plenty of activities such as chair exercises, visiting singers, art projects and word games. My mother seems happy and at ease.

I seriously think that they need a larger staff. They do the best with the staff they have, but with the amount of residents, I just don't think there are enough people to keep them engaged. I just felt like she did not get what we expected and there were not enough things to do.

Response from Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard
October 5, 2017Honestly, the number of nursing and activities staff at Blackstone well exceeds state standards and at other local assisted living communities. We offer diverse programs that are delivered by well-trained and tenured staff, and we consistently seek to engage and individualize our activities. And yes, our staff are busy, but not too busy to deliver good service. We always seek feedback from residents and families so we can adjust what we offer and provide a high level of satisfaction. The daily calendar is very full with activity choices, all day long. Our vehicles are in constant use to support our connection with the local community as well. To achieve success, the devil is in the details of each resident's engagement and participation. Our door is always open and your feedback encouraged, and we hope that you tried to engage management along the way to make necessary changes. We will continue to strive for the best outcomes for everyone we serve. Thank you for taking the time to offer this feedback.
Very nice place, great staff, good food, pleasant surroundings. I was visiting my sister-in-law, a resident at EPOCH, down the hall a live band was playing old favorite country rock. I'm getting on in years and found it difficult to leave!
