Response from Spring Hills Singing Woods
November 28, 2023Thank you for your review. Our team will appreciate your kind feedback.
It is not a good memory care place. Rooms were not cleaned on a regular schedule. Very little help was given to assist patients with showering or help in the dining room. I think probably patients were doped up so much that they became very frustrated and angry. And caused them to sleep a lot. The help there is pathetic. The help is not trained to deal with dementia or Alzheimer's.

Our family had an in person tour and from everything that we saw and the staff that we met with it, it was an okay tour experience and we just knew that it was not going to be the right place for our loved one.

Our experience here wasn't great. Several other residents/families felt the same and were looking to move their loved one like we were. I understand the pandemic has played a huge part in added challenges for these facilities, but some of the things were still unacceptable. Meals were served cold a lot of times. Showers weren't being done as frequently as they should have been. My loved one's bathroom was dirty/soiled for 3 days before they cleaned it. The director was hardly ever there. They weren't keeping aides and nurses on duty like they should have been. So many things. I visited at least twice a week and saw these things on a regular basis. I visited around 6pm one day and there wasn't a nurse OR an aide on staff. It was concerning. One evening, my loved one's (who is diabetic) sugar got to an alarming level. They only had an aide there, she called the nurse and the nurse told her that they only give insulin to residents 3x a day and on a set schedule. They were so understaffed and things just weren't being ran as they should. I ended up moving him to another facility. I would not recommend them to family and friends.

December 7, 2022Dear Reviewer, We are saddened and disappointed by your experience. Please email us a way to contact you so we can learn more at info@springhills.com.
They have a high turn over at this community and it can be hard to get a hold of someone at this community. They lost the activities director for a while and now things are starting to pick up. I would be aware because of staffing that you may not get all of the care that you need. You do have to make sure that you are involved and making sure that your loved one is well taken care of. Sometimes they have agency staff come in and they are not there full time so things tend to get overlooked. I would just make sure that you are actively involved.

Going through remodeling soon, didn't want my loved one involved in that. The public bathroom seemed to have storage in there as well. Everyone was very nice.

We're not feeling very good about Spring Hills Singing Woods right now. They just had a Covid lockdown, so all the residents were confined to their rooms basically, and nobody really came into my loved one's room to keep her moving or exercising or anything. And in general, aside from Covid lockdowns, I think they could have been more aware of how she's doing as well. But the staff I've met I think I are great.

February 3, 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We understand that this pandemic has been hard on everyone. Our first impression right away was just how friendly the staff members where. They brought so many different ideas to the table, they were always available and always were willing to help out. During the first week of her adjusting they called us everyday to keep us updated and that was something we really appreciated.

January 18, 2022Dear Sandy, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a positive review. We hope it helps others looking for assisted living care in OH.
I liked Spring Hills Singing Woods. I liked the staff that we met. We didn't get to see the memory care unit on our tour though, due to Covid. And I didn’t want to make a decision until we saw it. But I have a friend whose loved one - who is very particular - is there, and they like it.

August 17, 2021Dear Anne, Thank you so much for the time you took to leave us a review. We appreciate your positive support!
I would tell others that the major problem that we had was that when my mother fell, she was to go here for physical therapy and needed some serious help with that. I was informed that she would get that and I found out that she did not get one day of therapy while she was here. I called to get the schedule and that is how I found out, they never bothered to tell me. At first they were great with communication and then it was very hard to get a call back and there was no follow up with care. We would call them while on the phone with my mom and no one would answer. I even called the director and she was unable to get a hold of the staff. They are short staffed, there was only 1 staff member for about 80 residents overnight. We did not have a good experience with Spring Hills Singing Woods and I would not recommend them to others.

This is a new community. They don't give families a lot of great communication. The staff will let you know that your loved one will have tests done, but no one follows up with the results. I seldom get calls from the nurses.

October 28, 2020Thank you for your positive review and support Paula! We appreciate your support.
Spring Hills Singing Woods is one of the best facilities in Dayton, OH. Every staff member is kind and patient with our parents and look out for them constantly. Our parents love the food (my step-father is very picky so this speaks volumes). The activities are catered towards the residents interests, including Irish dancers on St. Patrick's day, llama and animal visits, music and vocal concerts and a party for every holiday. There are daily exercise programs, crafts and puzzles, religious services and a strong sense of community among residents and staff. The communication with our parents continued care and changes in their health are communicated well. The administration and liaison between staff and residence/families exceeds our expectations. This community truly puts the residence and their families first. A few members of our extended family reside in differing assisted living communities within Dayton, OH and Spring Hills Singing Woods surpasses them all! I highly recommend this community for any family member!

May 29, 2019Thank you for your positive feedback. We appreciate your detailed review to help other families.
We really liked this community. The welcome was friendly and warm, the common areas were neat and well decorated. We saw many residents moving around and talking with each other. The folks who showed us around were greeted by residents and in turn called them by name. The layout was simple so Mom would be able to find her way around pretty quickly. The rooms, even the studios, we arranged nicely so that the 'bedroom' is separate from the sitting area. They had a nice kitchenette set up. Personal care costs were reasonable for Mom's. They do have Medicaid waiver spaces so there is a very good chance we'd never have to move Mom if her stability, mobility decline.

July 30, 2018Thank you so much for your support and positive feedback!
My mother-in-law is at Singing Woods. It has a very homey feeling to it. The rooms are good size, and the cost is good as well. The staff is very good. They are very friendly and caring. The director and nursing director are both outstanding, they always make me feel better and address any concerns I have. The sales person was very helpful as well. The nurses and caregivers are attentive. The food is very good. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The facility is easy to get around because it is all on one floor. The other thing is, they have animals there that visit. Recently had alpaca's they were adorable and the residents loved them. They have activities. They have sing alongs, entertainment, socials and daily excercise. Our loved gets great care and I would recommend them to others.

October 14, 2017Thank you for your support and positive review. We appreciate your feedback.
Mom has been doing okay since moving here. There have been some challenges to overcome but we are working through things. Mom will do the activities if someone comes and gets here which was one of the challenges we had in the beginning. Mom has a nice patio right off her apartment which is nice she can sit and enjoy the weather when it's nice. They have an outdoor courtyard that is secure so no worries about anyone wandering away from the property. The food is excellent. The community is well kept and maintained.
