There was a huge turnover of personnel. They wanted a $1700 per month increase for no increase in services. I would not recommend this place.

I had a good tour with Solterra and really liked this facility. The reason we decided against them was just because I was not able to get a feel for the staff. You want to feel good about the people who will be taking care of your loved ones but I was not introduced to them.
Initially, it was great; however, we were misinformed on the services (such as checking in on our mom and reminders on mealtimes and activities) that were considered “standard”; however, shortly after paying the $2500 community fee and moving in, things began to change rapidly. Within one week, they let go of their director and hired a new one, then another, then another. In a matter of 6 months, there were at least 4 different directors and the majority of the staff left. Staffing was scarce and those who were still there were overworked and miserable. We even found one sleeping at her desk one night (the sole caretaker working the evening shift). Their main caretaker is a piece of work—-lazy, rude, hateful (definitely in the wrong profession). She refuses to do anything one would consider common sense without threatening a price increase for care. It’s all about the bottom line for the latest director. Courtesies (such as checking on residents) is a thing in the past. Your are either completely independent or you must go into the memory care (or pay big bucks). We would have been willing to pay more if that is what it would take to have good quality care for our mom; however, we were not confident they could or would provide the care we wanted her to have. We have now moved her into a place that provides the additional care with KINDNESS and COMPASSION, unlike Solterra. It is more expensive, but so worth it!!! The good things about Solterra: food/menu is great, rooms are nice, some of the remaining caretakers are great (I.e., [name removed], [name removed]) The bad things about Solterra (other than caring for residents): always smells like urine. They claim they shampoo their main hallway carpets, but take a whiff and you’ll disagree. The plumbing is poor and good luck getting a quick response on a plunge. Their courtyard grass is always dead. Don’t let them tell you they are remodeling (it ain’t happening). Theater room sofas are soiled and stained with urine. It’s pretty disgusting in there. Just don’t move there if your love one requires “care”. If 100% independent with no cognition issues, it’s great. Otherwise, steer clear!

My loved one was only here for a short respite stay. The only thing that she really complained about is that they didn't always knock before they came in. We had arranged for a female to come and do the shower on a certain day, and a male showed up on a different day to help her. She liked the food and everything.

Solterra Senior Living has very friendly staff & an excellent Director. Their food is excellent & the dining room is very pleasant & always well decorated. My only complaint is that there is only 1 R.N. on staff during the day & no LPN's. They use Med Techs to care for their assisted living & memory care residents. We had to move my diabetic mother out of their facility so that she could receive higher quality care for her diabetes.

I was nice. I went with a good friend of mine and we were sitting in the lobby and a bunch of aids came running out looking for one of the residents. I was glad that they noticed that this person was missing but it just didn't feel as secure. The woman who did the sales and our tour was nice but she was almost ADHD. She would stop and visit with everyone like the ladies running the gift shop. I know she was trying to make it seem like a place where everyone knows everyone but she didn't seem as attentive to my questions. It was nice and clean and everything and it may work for other people. I don't want to bad mouth them - it just wasn't right for us.

A Place for Mom has scored Solterra Senior Living 3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
