My sister who is in Brookdale doesn't really like the food they serve. She does like the care givers. They accept ALTCS, which after my sister spent her money, she was going to need help from the state. The location was good also.

June 24, 2024Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
They promise 2 showers a week and only sometimes give you one. Sometimes not at all. When you push the emergency button they might come in 45 minutes but might never show up. They bring you cold meals. Wash your sheets every 2 months. They keep telling me they will do better. I have not seen that yet. We are looking for another place.

They are extremely short staffed and so they do not provide near the services that we are paying for. My loved one says the food is terrible and not what is advertised. It could have to do with the staff situation. I would not recommend them at this moment, my loved one has been there for 2 months and has had no shower assistance yet. She takes them herself and hopes she doesn't fall.

Response from Brookdale Central Chandler
July 21, 2023We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and hope you will contact our management team to discuss further.
The staff at Brookdale Central Chandler are professional, friendly, and competent. The living environment, activities and facilities are no frills. But my mother has been content and in much more stable mental and physical health than when she lived alone. As far as the food goes, I think that they could offer more whole grains, less white flour bread products. More ethnic cuisine varieties such as Asian. Mexican. And offer health homemade soups, like lentil, pea. Minestrone, etc.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale Central Chandler and the lady who was supposed to give us the tour was 25 minutes late and kept getting interrupted and needed to be elsewhere. Also Brookdale had shared rooms and that was something we did not want for our loved one.

Based on my experience, they were 5's across the board. I found the staff to be very proactive in trying to get my very shy and reclusive mother to interact with other residents and participate in activities. For one person, the room sizes are big enough because she can't move around that easily.

The support staff were all friendly and caring, and the marketing director is a standout. However, the other executives rarely would return calls when we had questions or concerns. Other than this, it is a good and caring facility.

The value for the money is fine. We picked this community because, they took a certain type of insurance, and the location is convient to other family members. The activites needs to improve, they don't offer higher activities such as field trip, painting, baking, art classes, and exercising. They have been pretty responsive with communication and answer all questions. My loved one, is comfortable, does not have a lot of complaints, and has made new friends.

During the time our loved one was there, they did not get the care she needed and deserved. When we would call they did not return calls, and has lost substantial weight. Thing were stolen, and the room was always a mess. Our family had a bad experience.

The staff are amazing. They go above and beyond for the residents. [name removed], the Executive Director, is fantastic. She is involved with all the residents and makes sure each one is treated with dignity and respect. I can’t say enough about her interaction with the residents and the staff.

Our family had an in person tour and our experience was great. We really liked it and the people that we met with. They have us all good information and explained a lot of things to us. However, the building and architecture was just not what we were thinking of. We thought Brookdale showed exactly what assisted living was all about but then we went to another community and were just sold immediately. This was a very nice community but it felt more hospital like compared to the community we chose.
I toured Brookdale Central Chandler and the staff were very nice and helpful but I did not like the overall feel of the facility when we walked inside. It was very institutional feeling and it was small so there was just a lot going on at the time.

[Name removed] was amazing! She answered most of questions without asking. The tour was thorough and we even met several of the residents which made my mother feel more at ease. We are proceeding with the enrollment and have every confidence this is the place for her.

My father was in Brookdale Central Chandler for approximately 6 weeks in their memory care wing 1 year ago. Over all it was a miserable experience. The 'sales process' of course was on point. Lots of promises etc. however, nothing promised became a reality. The care he received was the bare minimum as it was all the staff could handle due to being so overwhelmed and understaffed. (an aid actually cried speaking to me on this on more than one occasion) We were told over and over how supportive we were as a family because we had someone visiting my dad several times per day 7 days a week. I can only imagine the care the other residents don't get. After it became clear dad was not getting the care he needed we moved him to a group home where he was taken care of beyond our hopes and expectations. Now on to the worst part of the experience. My dad has since passed away. Brookdale owes my mother a large sum of money. You see, my dad was qualified for ALTCS, however, upon moving him in, my 82 year old mother paid out of savings for his care, while paper work was being processed. To this day, Brookdale has never billed ALTCS for my dad's care even though he is qualified. We not only have been dealing with the loss of my dad, but also trying to get a refund from them for my mother, for a YEAR. Oh, and they have since sent my dad's account (mom's account now to deal with) to collections. Did I say this has been going on for a year? Too many emails, phone calls, snail mail, voice mails to count in trying to get this resolved. NO one seems to know how to help! Re-explaining the situation over and over, not getting called back, bad phone numbers, bounced back emails. We are now working with an attorney and an Ombudsman to get this cleared up. If you are looking for memory care for your loved one, stay clear of Brookdale and look closely at home group care. The experience was day and night. Oh, and the group home had no problem billing ALTCS and getting paid on time and without issue.
