Savannah Cottage of Lakeland

My mother lives at this community. It was very difficult reaching the decision to move her in, but we had to for her safety as she was beginning to wander. The resident care Director spoke with us for two hours. He went over what we could expect, what my mom’s routine would be like, and things that may or may not happen to be prepared for while my Mother would be adjusting to a new place. He even lined up her own physical therapist to work with her one on one at the community at no cost to us!! This is a tough decision for anyone to make but it’s so much better to make it when you have a caring professional looking out for you and your loved one. Thank you to this community for everything they’ve done for me and my mother.

I picked this community, because it was a close location to visit my loved one, and it is a smaller community. They treat my loved one very well.

We chose Savannah Cottage because my dad had very specific needs that a lot of others places were either unwilling or unable to accommodate. We toured several places and we felt that this was going to be the best fit for him, we knew it was the place the second we walked in. I would give the staff much higher than a 5 if I could, they were amazing. I seriously cannot say enough about them. All of the women were wonderful, caring, and patient with the residents. I would most definitely recommend them to others looking.

We lived out of state and once we move our Grandparents to memory care it was important to have great communication and feel informed as if we are there. The Administrator I must say restore my faith in healthcare for elderly. Thanks to [name removed] for always communicating with us your professionalism and most importantly your compassion. Please thank the staff for providing great care. The activity lady for alway keeping it upbeat and fun for them. Please also ensure to tell the chef that we all miss his cooking. Maybe we should just come there for thanksgiving dinner instead :) We will keep it short. We love the community . We picked you because it’s a smaller community, higher staff to patients ratio, serene cottage home feeling, great and tons of natural light, the FOOD, it’s party every day there, the connections with the staff and residents and we did everything online from out of state. We opted for the furniture package until we come come down to help move the home. GREAT For us

I will keep it short and simple. When I started looking this was a nightmare all the call from every community at once. I got a call from [name removed] and his first words where “ I am here to help and make this easier with a contact system that works best for you and that is less stressful my I have a moment of you time I am with Savannah Cottage Memory Care. He didn’t try to sell me anything in that moment he just listened and heard my needs and prior experiences. The community is all memory care, access for outside independently to the relaxing outside courtyard. It’s small no stairs , long term staff, strong Administration and Knowledgeable nurse. Happy Hours are so fun with [name removed] and [name removed] makes Book Clubs so innovative to include all walks of memory care patients. I have no complaints [name removed] the chef is amazing .Try the cookies they are made from scratch YUM

They are very helpful at this community. My loved one really likes the meals. They have a lot of activities even though my loved one does not always participate. I checked other places and they were all pretty much in the same price range. I would recommend them. Also all the staff are trained for memory care.

I was impressed with the tour of the community, it’s clean, natural lighting and the staff explained to me that it’s purposefully open windows because the sun helps to increase the feel good hormones in residents with dementia and the windows go up on lawn day so that the smell of fresh cut grass can assist in that as well. What I never knew I researched and as his doctor and it is TRUE!!! The Activity Director is amazing so sweet and attentive to the patients. The patients are clean and well dressed and groomed, the FOOD ohhh my goodness they have a Jamaican Chef and it looked like the food was from a cruise it was plated so beautifully. Amazing I’m in love it’s a hard choice but this place made me feel at home from the door

Find out who the director there and what their history is. Go see how the community looks and see if they made improvements because there were issues with the building. Some of the staff have been there for a long time. I would recommend this community to others. This community may have changed so check for yourself.

I am happy with Savannah Cottage. I love [names removed], they keep me informed on my loved one. I also receive a news letter. My loved one seems happy there too?

Savannah Cottage treats my mom like their own. The staff is always there to help her, even though she's very confused. They are very understanding. The Executive Director even brought my mom a sandwich because she was hungry between meals. I am so glad I moved my mom here.

My family has been very pleased with the service provided by the staff. The ladies that work the floor are pleasant and work well with my mom. She is happy and clean and has made friends with some of the other residents.

I toured this community and then chose to place my father at Savannah Cottage this being his second community lived in and by far the staff go out of there way to help. I have never seen staff work at finding their best way to help each resident individually. I personally can not say enough about Savannah Cottage and the care they give my dad

This is a filthy facility that allows their residents to live in urine soaked conditions. There are plugins everywhere in attempts to cover the stinch. DO NOT let your loved one stay at this facility. I just moved my father from these deplorable conditions. I have photos to prove my comments.

This facility is horrible. The staff is not professionally trained, during evenings and weekends there is not even a CNA on staff. The very high level care residents are left on their own most of the time with minimal interaction from staff. My family member was there for 7 months and in that time his health worsened. I had to hire a companion to visit with him daily to ensure facility was carrying out their responsibilities. However, it eventually got to the point where I had to personally take him to emergency room where he was immediately admitted for malnutrition, dehydration and other issues brought on by the medicine and nutrition mismanagement by staff at the facility. I feel terrible for the other residents that live there. I got to know many of them, and will pray for their well being. I am shocked that Savannah Cottage received high recommendations. This place is definitely full of violations and a health hazard. It needs to be shut down.

My wife has been a resident of Savannah Cottage Memory Support Residences in Lakeland, Florida for five months. Savannah offers good care for my loved one. Their rooms are nice size and they have, on average, good and comforting meals. The staff members have a very demanding job. Almost all the time they are compassionate, and work with the almost constant demand of the resident's. Even the younger members of the staff show an unusual and patience understanding of the residents they are serving. On my daily visit to see my wife I noticed her hair had been washed and styled. It looked so nice. I found out that the Regional Director for several facilities had come to this facility and had washed, blow dried and combed out my wife's hair. I couldn't believe it. The Director is a very busy person with lots of responsibilities. She always takes time to talk to the residents and do special things for them when she is on the property . She knows them all by name and is close and friendly to everyone. What an amazing person. She quite often has residents visiting her in her office. It is a wonderful and loving sight to see. The care at this community has been very nice. We like that the staff have been very attentive to my mom's needs for care. The community is clean and maintained. We liked the good variety of meals that are offered. They had activities for her to participate. We would recommend this community for the care families and their loved ones.
