Look forward to new social opportunities and comfortable amenities, here at Brookdale Highlands. Residents can find assurance knowing their personal care needs will be met each day by trained and caring staff members. Choose from a variety of assisted living services, such as help with bathing, dressing, and managing medications, as well as memory care. Brookdale’s dementia-trained team members learn about residents’ histories, routines, and preferences in order to provide tailored and personalized service. Additionally, staff members are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. An alert system and keypad entries are also used to promote residents’ safety on-site.
One of the best perks at Brookdale Highlands is the peace of mind that comes from the HealthPlus program — an exclusive program designed to deliver a higher level of care without a higher cost. Here, residents benefit from care coordination overseen by a Brookdale HealthPlus Care Manager (RN). Preventative health care services, such as annual wellness visits, immunizations, and health screenings are also provided, as well as support for chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure.

I like the size of the facility. It's not too big now too small. They seem to do their best to get people engaged. Unfortunately with my father-in-law, he can't hear very well and he can't see very well so he can't really be included in bingo or any of the games that they play. Of course, that is not their fault that's circumstances. The only thing he really complains about is how long it takes to get served on the meals.

The staff is really super friendly and seem to know the residents well . My mom really likes the facility and the staff and activities. I have been to numerous assisted living facilities and have never found one as nice as Brookedale.

I've made no bones about our experience at Brookdale. They failed to let it be known there was Covid in the population until there were 14 cases. Had we known we wouldn't have eaten meals in the dining room. My husband caught it and was hospitalized where he almost died. He's left severely disabled. The tech response was often nonexistent. The food was cold and unacceptable The nurses were hard to contact Some time after we left, I was contacted by a person from corporate and I told them how disappointed we were. In investigating various other assisted living facilities before going to [removed], I learned they are thousands of dollars more expensive No I would not recommend Brookdale

My Dad passed but not before losing a foot to the incompetent care of Brookdale Highlands. They left him in bed for a week and half while he was sick and he developed bedsores. I had to send my father to hospital myself after I was away a week and found him not eating and just left in filth in his bed before as they claimed they were assisted care and they don't supply nursing care, so they just left him there.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Highlands and overall the experience at this facility has been good for her. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The staff and care services are good. The food is the biggest complaint and it has never gotten better - no seasoning, cold when it is supposed to be hot, you have to sit at the table for about a half hour before it is served (they bring out one plate at a time).

#1 in all categories. They've changed management and head nurse since we've left there. Hopeful things have improved

My experience with Brookdale Highland has not been good. They lack staff. It is an extremely poor value for the money. Cleanliness is just ok-my loved one was there 30 days before they changed the sheets and swept the floor. My loved one needed assistance and pulled the call button; it took 20 minutes for anyone to come. I am currently seeking some where else to move my loved one.

It was a good value, was pretty clean, and they were easy to deal with.

It is great for dementia care as long as the person has no other physical problems. My wife also has cancer. They struggle to cope with that. Room sizes in memory care are adequate for the needs. Amenities offered are good.

The walkthrough presented a much different picture than reality. Felt we got snookered into buying a really bad timeshare. We were not real pleased. Floor coverage was minimal at best. My mother-in-law would sit for hours waiting for her needs to be addressed. Weekend coverage was almost nonexistent. When we would call it would take hours for a callback, if we got one. When we went to retrieve her personal items the room had a bug infestation. They wanted the room emptied out as fast as possible so they could get another victim in place. They were relentless in trying to get their money. Quite an interruption to grieving. All just part of the Brookdale money vacuum.

Lovely welcome. Helpful. Clean environment. When calling a tech for tv problems, he came right away and fixed. Food. Very poor. I had to watch my sister-in-law try a bite of food that was made for her. It was too stiff and two dents, and she started screaming and crying because she was scared and it stuck, she cannot eat it. It's stuck to the roofer her mouth and she does not have a tongue to help her with that, she was hysterical. No help for a few minutes. Eventually, the food was taken away and never brought back with any alternative. Luckily, she had something in the refrigerator that she could eat as she was really really hungry. Apparently after I left, they brought the same thing back to her for dinner. This is unacceptable. Please look at her orders. Please puree her food. If it can mold into a form, it's too dense and too hard. You must get this right. The aid left with the food said she should be back to, and talked to the kitchen. We never heard another word she never came back. Unacceptable

I like it here but you do have to watch out a little. I would recommend to others. We picked this community because we talked to the people that lived there and they liked it.

Mom has been at Brookdale for 4 years now and it has been a wonderful experience for all of us. The staff has been great even through covid & management changes. Questions are answered promptly & issues resolved in a reasonable amount of time. The activities director stayed in contact with me during hurricane Irma last summer as I was concerned about mom but she faired better than we did! Overall Brookdale is home away from home for mom.

We toured with Brookdale Highlands and it was excellent. They do not take Medicaid at this time, which was why we could not go there. It was my first choice if it was affordable. They had well trained, caring staff.
We were in a situation where we were in immediate need for my Mother and Father in law to move into an assisted living community. She had fallen 4 times in three weeks and we just couldn't allow her to keep living in her home. It was a Sunday and we just dropped in at Brookdale Highlands without an appointment. It was on [name removed] day off, but she graciously guided us through the tour of the community from her cell phone! We are so grateful. We were able to secure a lovely apartment for my Mother and Father in law in record time! From Sunday to Thursday it was done!!! So Thankful! I would definitely recommend the community to anyone seeking a lovely place to live out your Golden years! And I highly recommend working with [name removed]! So professional, kind and caring at the same time! 5 Stars!

I would give each category except activities a 5. Activities I'm going to say 4 only because my mom really doesn't participate in anything. That is mostly her, but I do wish they would push her more to get involved. The staff has been really helpful to me and welcoming. The main reasons we chose this facility initially was because it was clean, the staff were all really friendly and the location is very convenient to my house.

I liked Brookdale Highlands, but it was further away from family, along with another community. It was also more expensive than we wanted to spend.
We picked this community becasue, they have had a lot more pull cords for the residents. They were helpful to get my loved one in quickly, which was appreciated. The staff could improve on communication with the family members. The food is good as to be expected. Overall. I would recommend to other families.

The aids were absolutely fantastic and treated our loved one like a queen. However, the sales person was good and really sucked us in - he did not make us aware of certain charges that would be imposed and when we received our first bill it was not what we were told and when we asked for a breakdown or an explanation at all.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Highlands 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
