Lots of changes over the last year. It’s nice to see everyone smiling and happy. New staff along with the staff that has been there since I moved my parents in. I love the gal that does the activities! She has people in the activity room and the residence love Bingo! ?? I lost my dad [date removed] last year and wrote a bad review which was very appropriate at that time. But the staff that has come through all the changes have been both supportive and very helpful. A year ago I would have turned people away from this place. Today I would not. One of the things I have loved from the beginning are the residence! I love so many people here! When I visit my mom I visit everyone! I’ve come to love the staff as well. Today we enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July celebration with bounce house for the kids visiting, and a taco truck. Snow cones and great company with everyone out and about.... Read more

Best practices: We like the accessibility to management. The caregivers seem to genuinely care for the residents. The activity coordinators run almost everything else and do it well. Disappointments: Huge, constant staff turnovers. No communication monthly letter between the Executive Director and the residents. Residents are uninformed of changes in staffing, projects, menu and dining changes, and more. RN position not staffed 7 days a week. This is very concerning. Esthetically, the place looks rundown. Very dirty-looking flooring and carpet that was supposed to be replaced in July has now been moved back to "August or September." The tour promised a lot. Sadly, very little of it was delivered.

A person dealing dealing with dementia should never be told that they don’t have to give them their medicine because they came back late from an outing w/ family. We never had a meeting because it was cancelled by them to discuss things and if that was how it was to be done, it should be discussed w/ family not being rude to the senior. Also, lack of compassion towards seniors when they tell them they can’t have their animal anymore. The other concern is how long it takes to get help when help call is triggered. There are definite concerns.

WOW [name removed] focus on client care is unwavering. he exudes all the qualities of an ideal caregiver including patience, resourcefulness, punctuality, and reliability. especially if they are having a difficult day/Night. [name removed] is a great trainer for other caregivers who shadow him as he is attentive to details and explains things in a way that’s easy for others to understand.

My family and I arrive at the building to take my father back home and WOW WOW???? Graveyard crew do an amazing job cleaning the restrooms and areas where residents gather . On top of that, very amazing with my father's needs when he came back home. I was able to go home and sleep without worrying about my dad, and it's been a long time since my dad has been well taken care of by the staff, which relieves my stress a lot. THANK YOU

I would recommend Royal Columbian to anybody. The people are very kind and the facilities are kept up well. I've never seen any people just sitting around not being attended to. They're always in and out with my loved one. They're never sitting there by themselves for hours without anybody checking in on them. I personally like their services. The staff is wonderful and hardworking. They're there to help and they try to make the living situations for the residents very enjoyable and almost like living in their own homes. They play games, Bingo, Bus rides. There's a group that provides music for the residents, they have birthday parties, there are social events , bible studies, and people from various religions coming in. They have food options very happy with staff good job ;)

January 31, 2023We appreciate your feedback and it is a pleasure to be able to care for our residents on a daily basis. Thank you for choosing us!
Scheduled room was given to someone else. The room received was so filthy we delayed move in day so it could be cleaned, it was not cleaned, stained carpets, old spills down the walls that looked like vomit and blinds that could not be closed on the ground floor, a 3 story building with broken elevators, no nurse on staff, when told our resident had not received her meds (chemo pills) for two days. There were other med concerns over dispensing practices. Breakfast is served at 8:30, trays for room bound residents arrived at 10:45, cold, on a soggy paper plates. Our resident did not receive dinner two evenings in a row, and when we reported the issue the 1st time an aid stated our resident declined dinner which is not true. This aide also stated she was there until 10pm…again not true. There was no one manning any of the desks on any of the floors. A med tech dispensing meds was the only one on duty. We are contacting authorities for the sake of all residents.

December 13, 2022First of all, thank you for taking the time to make this review. We are so incredibly sorry to hear about this experience and can assure this is not our standard practices at our community. We are completing elevator upgrades and maintenance that is affecting all 3rd floor residents. We've accommodated this by closing the 3rd floor to prevent residents from using the stairs during this upgrade. We apologize for the inconvenience. As for medication concerns, we are investigating and completing a full audit as we speak. We take these concerns very seriously. We would like to speak with you more in depth about this matter. -Would you please call us at the home office so we can discuss at length your concerns? You can reach us directly at 888-412-3112. Brian is both a licensed nurse and our VP of Regional Operations and Clinical Support. We look forward to speaking more with you and thank you again for your time.
Very nice building and friendly staff ??

December 13, 2022Thank you for your positive stars. If you would like to share the name of the caregiver, please call us at 888-412-3112 and we will ensure your appreciation is shared.
Royal Columbian was our second choice. The staff here were as friendly as could be, but the residents did not look as happy as some other places we visited. The facility itself needed some updates/TLC.
When we arrived for our tour the staff had no record of it and were not prepared to give us a tour. Well outside the grounds and building look brand new the inside looked a bit more careworn. Since we did not get it to her or even walk around the facility I cannot comment on it. But I will say I am not impressed with no follow up from them. I’m not sure why the same procedure for signing up for other tours worked and did not work for this facility.

My Mother was there for 19-months. I think the staff have good intentions, but they can't seem to get their employees to stay. We had to deal with staff shortages, not trained and unhappy with their jobs. The food was ok, but there was not a lot of fresh food or fruit available. Unforn

the facility had an uncomfortable smell not overwhelming but there. We had lunch which was good and the staff were nice, but too much time was spent on his history and not focused on our needs.

My mother was there for six years, it was a very good palce, but it kind of was going through some transitions that were really bumpy, she was too unhappy there and the cost was getting to us so we moved her in with us.

A Place for Mom has scored Royal Columbian 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
