The decision to transition Mom to an assisted living facility was not an easy decision. The family of Quillen came along beside us, held our hands and guided us step by step. Keeping her safe was a huge factor in choosing assisted living but, we also wanted her to thrive in her new environment ! [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed] were so kind and patient.. with me, mom was excited for her new adventure. The staff are definitely called to this kind of service, from asking her what her favorite snacks are to have on hand when she wins at bingo to the comfort they give her when sundowners comes around, it’s made this part of the journey so much easier on us all. When hurricane Helene hit, they lost power, like many of us but worked around the clock to make lemonade out of lemons. Mom loves it, for one. She is doing so much better now that she is more active. They communicate well and involve the family too.

I would recommend Quillen Manor but I'm not crazy about the food. It's good but it's institutional food.

Some improvements - a cleaner place in the cafeteria and the staff and more apartments to help out. Also no what is available when someone needs to leave and always having to wait 20-30 minutes for you to walk out the door and visit

My Mother lived in Quillen Manor Senior Apartments for years, and when it was time for assisted living, she chose QM again. She was glad to see some old friends from the apartments and to make new friends as well. There are a variety of activities, holiday/seasonal activities and decor, and local trips on the bus. Residents can participate in caring for the garden (often supplying fresh flowers for the dining room tables) or they can just sit on the non-smoking screened porch and take in the beauty. The director and department managers are easy to reach. As a vegetarian, Mother’s diet is always important to her. The chef is considerate of her needs, even to the point of making meatless spaghetti sauce and chili beans just for her. Mother has grown close to her med-tech and care staff. Her mid-sized room holds a twin bed, 2 side tables, a cedar chest, mini-fridge, chest of drawers, bookcase, recliner, and jewelry armoire. Adjusting can take time, but now Mother considers QM her “home.”

What our family likes the most about the Quillen Manor Assisted Living and Villas community is the staff members working there as well as the other residents. They all are very friendly. We also like the different numbers of activities they have for the residents to participate in.

Our loved one has only been at Quillen Manor Assisted Living for about a month, but so far she seems to really be enjoying the activities they have. The different activities they have going on there for the residents is bingo, and they also have a hair and nail salon.

My mom needed to be around people, her age and a place that has activities. Quillen Manor is full of activities, my mom loves arranging flowers, the exercising, planting a small garden and having special friends. The administrator and the staff personnel are very nice, and are willing to help! They also have an on-site physical therapy group that has been very helpful for my mom.

They were pretty friendly. My loved one liked the food, and engaged in the activities. The value for the money is okay. We picked this community because, It was affordable. My loved one went to rehab, and was not able to return to the community, and they did not give my loved one a chance to return. They were very short staffed.

They are understaffed which causes some issues, they could definitely use more help and give the residents more care. Every time I go visit he is just sitting there in his wheel-chair, so there is not much going on physical activity wise. He absolutely loves the food, he says it is excellent. Overall I would recommend this facility, they just need some more staff.

There was a terrible smell and we didn't see any interaction between the residents and staff.
Our experience here was very good. Everything I saw was good, it's a great group of people here. Mom seemed to enjoy the food and activities. The cost was reasonable. Housekeeping was thorough, it always looked clean. Communication with the family was good. I would recommend this facility to friends and family.

They will not check on residents regularly or keep up with their laundry and personal belongings. They are often understaffed and can't provide the attention to the residents which makes it assisted living. They will lose your loved ones valuables. The food is probably the worst I've ever seen. I would absolutely not recommend this facility, I cannot wait to move my loved one out. I am concerned for their safety and health.

The biggest thing is that people there are friendly. But the staff doesn't work well with the residents in terms of helping or encouraging them to get involved, etc. The apartment is spacious. They seem to be cleaning pretty regularly, but the cafeteria floor is always dirty. And the nurse's cart smells like urine when I walk past it.

A Place for Mom has scored Quillen Manor Assisted Living and Villas 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
