I toured Plum Landing Retirement Community during my search for Independent Living for my father. This facility was okay, just a lot older. The tour guide was friendly and helpful.
Plum Landing is fabulous. They're very compassionate. While it's not a facility where they fully keep an eye on your family member, it's a place where the people in the community care about each other. There are activities and no shortage of things to do if you want to. While there's no medical care, the community environment allows everyone as a whole to generally keep an eye out for your family member.
Overall my father is extremely happy and we appreciate your help finding Plum Landing. It's right on the fox river and he loves to walk his dog On the path by the river. I think initially is expensive but his rent is locked in place for the rest of his life so that's a plus. We don't really like how they charge for the food whether or not he shows up but we understand why they need to do that. We kind of wish that he could have a credit on his account that would go from month to month instead of losing the extra food allowance each month. But again I understand why they need to have that as a set expense whether or not he shows up for lunch and dinner. I love that they call my dad on the intercom twice a day to make sure he's OK and accounted for that brings our family peace of mind. This is an independent living place. If dad needs more care in the future they work with a company that provides CNA's that come in so you can age in place. My dad loves the staff. My dad absolutely loves the food he's gaining too much weight though and his blood pressure is elevating so make some better choices at dinner ha ha ha. He loves the taste. My dad loves to do puzzles and I don't think he's really participated in lots of the activities he did the Halloween parade and enjoyed that I think it's good but I do think there's room for improvement. He also likes going to the local theater.

Response from Plum Landing Retirement Community
May 19, 2022Thank-you Jo. We could not be more grateful to have you in our Plum family.
Our loved one really enjoys the games the provide, as well as the excursions they can take when they are able to. She likes having the house keeping come every couple of weeks. She feels very safe there which is huge for her especially during the pandemic. She can overlook a river with a beautiful yard.

My ratings are based on the few times I have been into the community. I would recommend Plum Landing. The only negatives I've seen is the older infrastructure. The heating is the old radiators, and it can be difficult for the heat and air to be the right temperature. My loved one had some maintenance issues, that still aren't correct after the request was fulfilled.

An acquaintance said to look at this community. This community has a beautiful campus. There is even the Fox River near by. There are approximately 55 women and 9 men as residents. The community has a lot of space, and several friendly residents. This is a delightful community. There is someone who comes every two weeks to clean. This individual loved to chat. The community is quick to repair items that need it. The outside is attractive. There is a large courtyard in this community. All food is being brought to our homes due to the virus. There are several activities available for residents. Plum Landing has the ability to take residents shopping and to appointments and other items.

Management at Plum Landing always places the need of residents first. The facilities are immaculate, the dining room is wonderful and there are activities suitable for everyone. I have been particularly impressed with their management of the coronavirus pandemic. They have kept residents safe and have done an outstanding job of communicating to all of us.

I have lived in Florida for 29 years before needing to make a change of residence. It became a task for my son and granddaughter to visit. We located a "Place for Mom" as an ad on TV puts it. Before long I had information and photos of Plum Landing located near family; also had a very home-like atmosphere. Living here I have felt safe and found the personnel to be very kind and helpful.

I have lived in this community for 5 years. I find the staff and maintenance employees are prompt and considerate. Repairs are made in a timely manner. I especially like the morning and evening intercom call to check on wellness. The kitchen staff is exceptional and our food is very good. The staff has made a special effort since the COVID-19 virus and kept up a thorough cleaning program. The budling is within easy reach of parklands and river walk.

A Place for Mom has scored Plum Landing Retirement Community 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
