My mother had a stroke and still not ready to live at home. Pacifica came to the rescue. From the walk-in tour to contract signing - they have bent over backwards to help us. It was priceless to see my mom smile and feel @ home right away. Thank you!

My father and I were given a tour of 2 of the rooms. Showed the theatre room, salon, library and dined in the restaurant for dinner. The food was very good.

There were a few hiccups in the beginning. Community needs to clarify what will be washed on laundry day. I finally got clarity. Overall it's good but kitchen staff left dinner trays by residents doors for 2 days.

October 12, 2023Thank you for the 4-star rating of our community. We appreciate that you took the time to offer suggestions. We read all the online comments and often use them as teachable moments for staff and management.
The independent living situation is fine however I would not recommend the memory care unit because they do not have a nurse on staff and I was charged for level 3 care in that unit and my mom did not get the service I was paying for. I tried to set up an appointment with the director and she said she would get back to me and never did. It is too difficult to get a bandaid from a med tech because they aren't around when you need them and the medication issues I had did not only happen to me. It happened to my friend's mom too. I discovered the medical issues with my mom's declining health and had to sought out care from home health care. The staff says they will take care of things and they don't always follow through. My mom's bathroom was seriously neglected by housekeeping. She had pink mold in the shower, black grout on the floors and a filthy stained toilet, and overflowing trash without a liner. My mom had developed athletes foot and had an ulcer on the bottom of her foot. A memory care patient can't remember to bring those issues to the staff's attention so I had to. Also, the maintenance man never takes care of the requests when orders have been put in. My mom's vertical blinds have over 13 slats missing, and there are screws missing on the outlets switch plates, and a ceiling light is not secured. Again, I approached the director about the blinds and bought blackout drapes and asked if I could put them up and she took a picture of the drapes and said she would talk to maintenance to see if we could and said she would get back to me and never did. If I hadn't been as involved I am positive my mom would have already passed.

October 6, 2023This type of review is always difficult to respond to as we are restricted by HIPPA rules (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) about discussing the specific care of a resident. However, in general terms, the differences between Assisted Living /Memory Care and a Skilled Nursing Facility is that we are not licensed to provide any medical/clinical care. And, we understand that watching a parent decline not only memory but also physically, is traumatic. That said, we read every review and take the relevant suggestions as teachable moments. We took this opportunity to retrain housekeeping staff in order to ensure that the highest level of hygiene is maintained.
I am very happy about moving into Hillsborough. I will never feel alone again. Looking forward to meeting new friends. Look forward to the entertainemtn
