My parents moved out because they keep raising the rent. We don't remember being informed of that and my parents were priced out. The residents complained about the food and the staffs revolving door. They can't get any good help and all the activities promised with family were eliminated or stopped and no one knew why. They did still have happy hour tho. The unit my parents lived in, had a very big tree in front of it. The community did not trim any of the trees prior to the hurricanes and some of the trees came down. I think one of them did hit a unit.... Read more

November 11, 2024Thanks for sharing your experience at Oak Manor Senior Living Community! Your loved one is in a great place with a caring staff and beautiful surroundings.
When it comes to the meals, they would prefer real butter in place of spreads and seed oils & better lower processed carb diabetic friendly choices. They also say things are much too salty sometimes. There does seem to have a lot of turnover of employees since she has been there. We have moved my uncle into one of the independent villas about [date removed]. He is also very happy.

September 26, 2024Thanks for sharing your experience at Oak Manor Senior Living Community! Your loved one is in a great place with a caring staff and beautiful surroundings.
The place is well maintained resent Updates like exterior painting and roofing is, a big improvement after a year and a hike of more than 2% above social security and no lease allows for them to raise your rent at anytime and finally the food is fair , high carbs and lots of sugar and salt . But I do love my screen in patio and I am able to prepare a lot of my meals in my very large kitchen in my large apartment.

For the most part my experience with Oak Manor was very positive. I was in a Villa that was comfortable and most of the staff was caring and helpful. I don't know much about their larger group building facilities. Their food on whole was good with choices in the main dining room. As with most places today they seem to struggle hiring good staff. It's a homey atmosphere as opposed to an institution which worked for me.

January 22, 2024Thank you for your review! We're thrilled you enjoyed your comfortable villa and the care from most staff. We apologize for inconsistencies with other staff and limited group facilities, and are actively working on staff training and expanding our offerings. We appreciate your feedback on dining options and will use it to improve our menu. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back to see our progress!
Experience has been wonderful. We picked it for affordability 1st. Cleanliness of their villas 2nd and the shelter in place. The happy hour and friends and family. The club house. The community overall

Everyone has been helpful. I feel safe here. I have to have a gluten free diet. The facility doesn't have a gluten free menu but I have never left the dining room hungry.

.....I wanted to write a review in hopes people would give this place a look, because of the woman I corresponded with during my search; [name removed]. She is the 1st person u encounter when u inquire about Oak Manor & that's a good thing. She got back to me 1st thing every day, trying to find a way to help me out; & she was so kind. I lost the best Husband of 30 years in a short 3 months time; I m having a rough, tough time; & [name removed] understanding went a long, long way. I want to thank her so much. So far, I m staying with my wonderful sister, but if u r looking for a place, PLZ give [name removed] @ Oak Manor Senior Living a call.

June 9, 2023Hi, Amber. We appreciate the kind words and are glad we could provide you with a positive experience!
The facility is really beautiful with all the greenery, ducks etc. The staff is amazing and so caring and patient. And the food is wonderful and I love how they let you have access to the café for all day hours. I cannot say enough about the Oak Manor facility and staff. It was such a process making the best choice for mom and we were so happy with the results. I would not wish her to be anywhere else. Thanks to all the staff at Oak Manor, I will be forever grateful.

April 24, 2023Hi, Amy. We appreciate the kind words and are glad we could provide you with a positive experience!
One of the reasons I chose Oak Manor is I know [name removed] he has an awesome “moral compass“. As [name removed] chose him for The Palms of Largo now he owns Oak Manor and Wright's. I am in independent living so I do my own thing. I love it here like a cottage on the beach. All I do in the morning is push the button in the bathroom so the staff know I'm ok. Very little staff turnover and great value for the money. I'm an RN so I'm picky.

March 13, 2023Hi. Thank you so much for leaving us a stellar review!
Especially if you're in a more dependent situation, I would recommend this place. If you're truly independent, then not as much. There are built-in costs in independent living for things that I never use (housekeeping, meals). But I love the villa that I'm in. I'm provided with a full kitchen, and I have chosen to do my own cooking. The staff have been very friendly, cooperative, and helpful. We get a newsletter where they list various activities. I'm at the point in life where I think a lot of things are overpriced, including this, but that seems to be the case everywhere.

March 13, 2023Hi. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thank you for the review!
The Oak Manor SNF failed our mother who was hospice patient but placed on rehab side. The first week, mom was unable to do the 3-point to get in a wheelchair & she fell twice. We had a Care Plan meeting and stopped rehab & requested soft foods. In the midst of dealing with a dying family member, we were forced to turn away rehab daily and send her food tray back each meal to get the soft foods promised. The Suncoast Hospice nurse was as baffled as we were at the repeated disregard for what had been decided in the that meeting vs what was actually being done. Mom was in a lot pain that was not being controlled with the prescribed medicine intervals. She was unable to ask for addtl meds. We stayed with her feeding her, dismissing rehab and getting solid foods, & requesting more pain meds. We moved mom to a Suncoast Hospice Care Center. The lack of communication and training gaps at Oak Manor, left us with a heavy heart that we chose that institution in our mom’s darkest hours.

March 13, 2023Hi. We are sorry to hear that we didn’t meet your expectations. We have very high standards for ourselves at DeSoto Palms Assisted Living Community and would love the opportunity to improve. Please get in touch with us at bgraham@oakmanorliving.com.
We chose Oak Manor because it is an actual villa rather than a hotel room shape, so she has a good size living space. She is able to have some additional care but still has independence. At first it was wonderful, but they do have new management that we are not the biggest fans of, they have not been very kind. The food is really good, but they are short staffed so there is not enough table bussers, now there is a lot of flies.

From the beginning to the end that have been wonderful, she is loving living there, very happy and feels very safe. I live out of state and they communicate very well, they call us to give us even the smallest update. They have been the most helpful, kind people and we honestly did not expect it to go as well as it did. The director calls all the time keeping me updated, and everyone morning our loved one has a call button and if she does not press that call button they come to check on her immediately. At first the meals were okay, but now they are excellent and due to the current circumstances the activities are still limited.

The community is very neat and clean and the staff is very nice and friendly. The community is has a homey atmosphere. They have great transportation and the community is more like a home, not a facility. The community is a great value for the money. The food is great and they have lots of activities going on. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

We loved it here! Exactly what we are looking for, and conveniently close to us. A little high priced, but you see where the money goes back into the community.

January 13, 2020Thank you so much for your review!
Took a tour, found a studio that I liked but the contact person never returned my call or followed up on the additional items that I asked for clarification on. In addition, she had me hold her hot tea while she drove the golf cart - VERY unprofessional. When I asked why I should choose that facility over others, she said it was because management pay close attention to who they ALLOW to live at the property so that they "fit in". Makes me wonder if we were not "chosen" for some unknown reason. Wouldn't recommend - simply - If the front staff is this unprofessional, how does this reflect on the care staff??

There were certain things I look for when touring communities. The community appeared clean and well kept. However, I did not like the attitude of the staff. In sitting and talking to some of the residences they said that they really didn't like living there but it was what they could afford. So after speaking to them, I lost interest in this community.
