Short Staffed

They are short staffed, they could not give my mom the attention that she needed medically. I was not aware they didn't have staff on site to do that even with small wounds that needed dressed. I do have hospice come in to assist with her care as was not aware was an option but now am and it is true blessing. For the most part the listen to what I have to say, which is nice.

Tour experience

We toured with Morningview at Irving Park and had a really good experience. We liked the staff and what they had to offer, but it came down to the location for our family. We wanted to be able to get to her quickly if needed.

Would recommend if you can afford it

They do not have carpet in the rooms which may be helpful for others to know. I would also just make sure your loved one knows how to operate the call bells that they provide for the residents. Overall I would recommend Mroningview at Irving Park as long as you are able to afford them.

It is warm, inviting, engaging and it brings out their personalities and gives them that freedom

From the initial tour we were sold on Morningview, the whole atmosphere of the community just really stood out to us. We highly recommend this community to anybody. When we were leaving the community after our tour a gentlemen was coming in with some grocery bags, we stopped him and asked him politely if he was visiting a family member. He proceeded to tell us yes and that how every community has its flaws, but out of his experience this has been by far the best community. That helped us make our decision. Our loved one did not come willingly as most do not, but after about a month our loved one told us thank you for moving her here. At that moment we knew we made the right decision. She is thriving and doing thing we had no idea she would want to do. She has really come out and has made so many new friends. She plays bingo, she participates in their sewing classes, and flower arrangement. They take the residents out on day trips. They have so many different activities that appeal to all the different residents there. She says the meals and dining service is great. This community is as close to perfect as you can get. We looked at other communities in the area and the value here is the best you can get, it is pretty reasonable. At the center of the building is a beautiful park and the surrounding grounds are always well maintained. The residents are able to sit outside in the sun or under their gazebo. They also have a lot of trees and flowers

Our tour experience

Our family had an in person tour and we liked the community the tour was nice, but we did not like how the memory care building was in the same area as the assisted living.

Response from Morningview at Irving Park

November 15, 2021

HI Lynn. I am the Executive Director and want to thank you for visiting our community. While our Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods are located near each other, they are fully separate -- each offering their respective residents their own living and dining spaces as well as Lifestyle 360 programs for Assisted Living and Five Star’s award winning Bridge to Rediscovery programs for memory care. I would be interested in speaking with you in more detail about what you are looking for in a senior living community, and would be delighted to connect you with some of our current families who can tell you all about their experiences at Morningview at Irving Park. Please contact me at the community if I can be of assistance.

I would recommend

We chose Morningview at irving Park because it is a smaller community with more personalized care and friendly staff. They also had a room available with a patio that opened to up a courtyard that was really pretty. The room sizes are on the smaller side, but it is adequate. I would recommend to others looking.

A good place

Our loved one was only there for two weeks but the community was very nice and clean. The staff members and everyone there were very nice. When we first were looking for communities, Morningview just seemed to take more of our loved ones interests in mind and not treat her just like another new residents moving in.

Excellent choice!

It's wonderful so far!My uncle moved here and it's been a complete 180 from the last senior community he was in. He's playing BINGO and he's trying wheelchair Yoga. He got this haircut there and he got so many compliments.I guess he won't be going to his previous hairdresser anymore! He is a part of the veteran's group and goes out to dinner once a month. They work with the VA and take him to his appointments. They also cater to Veterans and offer a discount for those who served. They have an honor wall where they put the pictures of Veterans. They have pictures of the residents and staff alike. The gentleman, [Removed] who drives the bus is a veteran as well.My uncle lost two loved one's after moving in two months ago and Morningview has been very supportive and caring during this time. The staff is so attentive. I'll visit for an hour and they ask me if I need anything. They are good to me and they cater to the residents as well. I love that I can call and they will answer any questions that I have.He is in the assisted living part but I appreciate that they offer individualized care to those in the memory care as well. Everyone here has a smile on their face and the staff knows everyone, including me my name. I am absolutely thrilled with Morningview!

Too Far For Us

The tour was wonderful, I loved how beautiful the community is. The staff are so friendly and even sent us home with homemade, baked cookies. I noticed they did offer activities in different rooms. It is clean and well-maintained. The only issue we had was the distance from our home. If the community was closer, it would have been better for us.

Our Journey to Morningview

On February 24, 2015 we moved my Mom who had lived with me for the past 2 years into Morningview at Irving Park. First I spoke with Carol, an advisor at a Place for Mom. We spoke at length and she helped point in the right direction and shared some tips and tools for the search. Next I spent months researching, visiting and analyzing facilities. I chose Morningview for a couple of reasons, but the most important was the interaction I witnessed between the administration and the residents each time I visited. Whether the visit was announced or not the residents were always spoken to my name and they seemed to realize that they were actually cared for and about. Two to three weeks prior to the day she moved in, I felt nothing but dread, guilt, despair and nervousness as an only child placing my Mom. Was I failing her or my adored Dad who has passed away 7 years ago? Every one of those feelings were self imposed. Now as I see pictures when friends and family stop by, I realize I made the RIGHT choice. She seems to have adjusted well and there she has the opportunity to be around others, develop new friendships and be closer to her great grandchildren. Just because she has dementia does not mean that she can't be happy, satisfied or look beautiful. I am very thankful to those who care for my Mom.

The community is clean and the staff is friendly, however my concern is staffing level and turnover especially for CNAs. Although the community says they meet NC State requirements, the ratio of CNAs to residents needs to be more to reduce how long some residents have to wait for assistance.

Exceptional community (facility). Clean, nice smell, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Nice courtyard area, various indoor sitting areas. Safety and security emphasized. Gracious dining with many choices. All was good. Would help placement at end of LT Care Ins coverage. No Medicaid. Showed a companion rm of another lady with cat. Had odor - many apologies. 1900 open for taking plus add care level fee (Meds only) Lots of activities. Reminds resident to participate.
