We had horrible experience and mom was moved out quickly after several incidents. They still owe me money. They could improve on - security of residents. Follow through on concerns. I would not recommend

We recently made the decision to place our Aunt with Brookdale at Lawndale and it has been the best decision we could have ever made. She has so many things to keep her busy and has made friends with wonderful residents. We cannot say enough good things about Brookdale and excited to watch our Aunt continue to flourish. We believe we've found our forever home.

[name removed], the local Sales Manager, went way beyond my expectations to help me and my family with my grandparents. My grandparents have two different levels of health needs. Jessica worked extremely hard to help find a solution for them. [name removed] is very knowledgeable and helped us navigate many of the financial issues involving moving into an assisted living facility. Because of my grandparents financial situation, they were not able to move into Brookdale. However, [name removed] continued to help me and my family find a good solution for them at another facility. Although my grandparents will not be going to Brookdale, I think so highly of [name removed] and the organization that I will make many recommendations to others I communicate with in the community.

Brookdale Lawndale Park staff truly makes you feel like family. They take personal care with their residents and make them feel special. They try to figure out what the residents did in their past and incorporate into their day if possible that experience. Like cake decorating/ cookie making etc. The Rooms were cozy and storage was plentiful there. I really could not say enough good things about Brookdale.

There was very poor communication with management and nursing. We never had a care plan, no one welcomed my loved one There was no one to answer phones on the weekend or at night if there were medical concerns about my loved one. No one returns phone calls or emails. Management says they will do something and never do it.

The interaction with the staff is okay. They are lacking with the care services. We have not had very good results so a far. They need staff that is more caring, and respond more often to the call bells. Some of the food combinations is unusual. The breakfast is served later, opposed to an earlier time. My loved one is not getting showers as often.

Our first impress wasn't so great, tour was very nice informative. The tour guide was in training, and had help at the end. She did mail more information to the family.
This seems to be a very solid community. They have had a lot of big renovations happening and staff changes. Things are a little chaotic right now but I expect for things to settle and change. I would recommend to bring your loved one here. They have activities at this community like crafting, work outs, trips out to stores and other places for the residents to get out and about.

We love it. The people are very friendly. All the staff I have encountered have been wonderful. It's really clean, even amidst renovations right now. My loved one always seems to be well taken care of, and is always nice and clean. She seems to be happier here than she was at home. She just hates to be alone, and over here she can always see somebody. And that makes her happy. I think they do well with the food. A sample meal they served recently was a very hearty vegetable beef soup, salad, a sandwich, and dessert, which all looked great. I would definitely recommend Brookdale Lawndale Park, and already have.

Our family had an in person tour and we really liked this community it was our second choice, we had a very good first impression.
Our family did a virtual tour, and while the tour experience was nice it was just still hard to get a good feel without having that hands on experience. The sale worker we spoke also had the activities director speak with us as well which was nice.
In the beginning, things seemed good. Brookdale tried to make my loved one comfortable since she was having a difficult time settling in. But after three or four weeks, I noticed a dip in the level of care she was receiving. Off and on my loved one had some falls. Sometimes Brookdale would call, sometimes not. If they took her to the hospital, they'd call me. Other times they'd say she had a little tumble or something. Even the hospital was starting to question the amount of times she was there for falls. Our loved one used a walker, and Brookdale would tell me she was up and out walking, which was good. When I would pick her up for appointments, I was really disappointed in how she looked. I told Brookdale I expected clean clothes, hair washed and combed, etc. They did it a couple of times but got slack with it over time, and my loved one started looking a little rough. One Saturday I tried calling my loved one, and her phone was continuously busy. I called all day and this was the case. Sunday they said she was resting, sleeping, didn't feel well, was lying down. I asked if I could see her and they said no. I called and a med tech took the phone to her. She wasn't making a lot of sense. So I asked the med tech what's going on. The med tech said it could be the morphine. I asked what does she need morphine for? The reply was I don't know, I'm just a med tech. But we can give them morphine. So I asked if she was eating anything. They said no, no fluids or food. The next day I went up there unannounced, and said I wanted to see her immediately. They would not let me see her, even through the window. I said if she's that sick, then she needs to go to the hospital. At the hospital, she was really, really bad off. Honestly I thought she was going to die. She had very labored breathing, and wasn't getting any water. The nurse there asked me why was she taken off her meds, from what they could tell about three days ago. I had no idea and asked who ordered that. The nurse told me that hospice had ordered it. So at Brookdale, they told me that hospice could come in from 4 to midnight to assist in general and help with medication management. The director, nurses, and hospice all explained it to me this way - they called it palliative care. When I questioned them at the hospital, Brookdale told me Hospice ordered a comfort package (where they check in on patient more often and make them comfortable in their final days). Brookdale thought Hospice had told me, and Hospice thought Brookdale had told me. I never heard anything about my loved one being taken off her meds, and she had a chronic illness where even a few days off medication is extremely harmful. I was beside myself. As she came off the morphine, she came to and said she was hungry. Of course she was, she hadn't eaten anything for three days. She had lost considerable weight. The hospital nurse says she tested positive for Covid. Brookdale told EMS she complained of lower abdomen pain. Brookdale thought it was due to one of the recent falls. But in the hospital we quickly determined her abdominal pain was due to constipation from morphine I wasn't even aware she was on in the first place. I'm just so disappointed with Brookdale 1) for not paying enough attention to know what was going on with my loved one to see that something was seriously wrong, and 2) for not notifying me of what was going on. I don't think they were honest with me, they didn't put everything out on the table. They charged me more for her last month there, without notifying me this would be the case. They said it was because they had to go by her room twice as often. In the end nobody at Brookdale wanted to talk to me. And I feel if I hadn't taken my loved one to the hospital that day, then she wouldn't be with us today.
Our loved one was happy at this community and made plenty of friends. This community is close to where we live, and the staff was very helpful. The meals were good, and overall it was a nice social environment.

We chose Brookdale Lawndale because of the location, but we also liked the atmosphere, it is more bright and upbeat. The room sizes are good, my mom has a single room and it is plenty large enough for her. I have eaten here and everything I have had has been good. They have options if the residents do not want the main course that is provided. For example you can always get a soup, sandwich, or salad. I would recommend this facility.

When I look through the window and my mother-in-law has OCD hasn't complained at all. The only thing we would tell a friend is to be aware of the alacart and the items add up quickly and they don't tell you that at the beginning. My mother-in-law has been thrilled to have bingo back. They still have puzzles, painting We have a weekly face time call with her, and her granddaughter also has a weekly face time call with her. It is highly encouraged to call. My mother-in-law is thriving in the environment.

We toured this community for care for my father. We liked this community and the staff who were helpful in letting us know the certain type of care that is offered. We liked knowing that the had good activities that may have been helpful for the care of my father. The community is clean and they have a lot to offer. We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one.

They did a nice tour here with my brother, the staff did a good job showing him around and answering all his questions. We just felt that this community was too big and did not fit in the budget we had in mind.
