My mom is so happy there, she has lots of friends and she has a dog. The only thing that needs improvement is the food right now. The living space is great with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an attached garage. I would recommend this facility.

Response from MorningStar at Golden Ridge
December 11, 2020Thank you for taking the time to pen these words. We aspire high at MorningStar in service to Seniors—the heroes of our society.
The office staff is very helpful and very nice. The care giving staff is not that good. Some of the staff do not speak English. It is hard for my mom to communicate with them.My mom is not happy with the food, and the staff is not offering her the other options if she can not eat the main offering. They have a nice courtyard. They have good activities, cards, games, and puzzles. The caregivers are not always wearing the masks when they come to her room she has to ask them to put one on. My mom has asked for a shower chair or to help since the seat they have is not working for her and they have not been helpful. They have done a good job with the Covid virus. They are a newer property so maybe theses are growing pains

Response from MorningStar at Golden Ridge
May 29, 2020Thank you for your praises of our team, amenities and programming. Most especially thank you for recognizing the extensive measures we have taken to defend our community against COVID. These measures include regularly hosting in-services on infection control protocols, including face masks. We want to clarify that it is a requirement of employment that all of our care managers speak English, though some do have accents. We try to accommodate your mother’s preference for certain team members in service to her needs. Our Executive Director and Dining Room Supervisor recently spoke with her about food preferences, which we have noted for the kitchen. If that day’s two main entrees are not appealing, residents have the option of our Anytime Fare, which dining servers are faithful to explain. Finally, we will gladly use a different shower chair if the family specifies a preferred model.
My mom was sad when I moved her from her home of 40 years to live at MorningStar at Golden Ridge. She had always wanted to stay in her home until the end of her life but diminishing strength and increasing fall risk made that too unsafe for her. She has lived at MorningStar for six months now. I knew the decision to move her to AL and the choice of GoldenStar were the right decision because in the first few days of living there she made friendships among other residents as well as staff. She went from sitting on the couch in her PJ's all day at home to putting on her pretty clothes, make-up, and jewelry as she started each morning in her new home. Mom rarely misses any of the planned activities and enjoys the variety of activities offered. Her appetite has improved because she now has friends to sit and visit with at meals. The staff at MorningStar work hard to provide the best experiences and services for the residents. Staff at all levels in Golden Ridge take time to say hi when they see mom and to ask how she is doing. They also often check in with me to see how I am doing! My experience has been that all staff have a genuine love for working with elderly persons and understand how far a kind word and smile can go to bring happiness to the lives of those they care for. As with all things in life, not everything goes without a glitch here and there. At Golden Ridge those glitches have been few and far between. When problems do arise they are addressed quickly. Management always has the time to talk to residents or their families about concerns. They address the issues they can and if some matter or request can't be honored they will explain why and work for other appropriate solutions. Really, the only "problems" I have seen seem to be due to the difficulty of managing a balance of when to bring on additional staff with anticipated resident growth. My mom is happy. She is well cared for. She is safe. She has new friends to look forward to seeing daily. MorningStar is giving her the quality of life she deserves.

A Place for Mom has scored MorningStar at Golden Ridge 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
