Response from Mercy House Waco
November 4, 2024Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how we are doing! We are so happy to hear that you are pleased with the care we are giving your Dad and your family. We partner with you in his journey so it's really important to us that we maintain this 5-star level of care for each and every one of our Mercy House family! Thanks again for letting us know how we are doing!
The overall cleanliness of the community was one of the biggest things that stood out to us as well as it being a smaller scale community. One of the things we were looking for was efficient medication management and we thought they provided that pretty well here. If Mercy House Waco fits your loved ones individual needs we would recommend them.

The staff is very caring and attentive to the residents that live there. The residents are always in the middle of an activity and are happy and laughing. Just this morning they had a live band for the residents and they were singing and dancing. This seems like a wonderful place for anyone with Dementia and Alzheimer's to live.

The staff keeps me and my family updated on what's going on with our loved one. They're really on top of things. They're very patient with our loved one, and friendly. It seems like they have activities going on daily. Our loved one is gaining some weight, which we've been pleased with as that can be a challenge with memory patients. There's really nothing I can think of that we would change. I would definitely recommend this community.

I would tell others that this is a great place for memory care residents. I think the care community staff that I had contact with was great. Due to the pandemic I wasn't allowed inside. The staff stayed with my loved one during their transition. The care staff was excellent that stayed with my loved one for being so nice, since I couldn't The only issue I had was management, they contacted me to ask me to take my loved one out of the community. They were willing to waive their policy and then they changed my mind and have me pay the bill. They made me pay a 10 day fee due to my loved one dying in the community. They didn't even tell me of the change of mind on waiving their policy until I asked about my refund. Make sure you know of the community fees and rules.

Sodalis Waco is an intimate 16 bed memory care community. The staff are very attentive to their residents' needs and truly care for them as if they were their own family. Sodalis offers homestyle meals and activities based on each resident's abilities and preferences.

This is not a good place for your loved one, My dad was extremely bored due to the lack of activities. The food was often cold and was of very poor quality. I would not recommend this community to others.

We chose Sodalis Waco because they were offering the care we needed, they were the only place in town that provided daily respite care and I did not want to have to put him into a home. I would want others to be aware of the fact that they do not handle aggressive behavior very well. The director was not there to oversee what was going on and we have to end up transferring him. Overall, I would not recommend at this point.

First of all, when we walked through the front door, the staff was very welcoming and the place smells extremely clean. There was no odors at all like in most places. I absolutely love the small homey feel of the community. The people that live there were very neat and clean. The staff was very attentive to the elderly needs and were cleaning as the residents would spill something. You can tell that they take great pride in their work and their building. Everyone was very cordial and answered all of my questions. This is a very wonderful place and I think that my mom will be very happy there.

Went for a tour today. They contact person was not there, but the woman who gave the tour answered every question except cost before I could even ask it. Very homelike feeling to the place. I can see it being a place where my mom would improve greatly.

No bathrooms in the room, they are in the hall and the clientele have to get a staff member to unlock the door. This was not the place for our mom.

November 28, 2017Hi, thank you for your feedback. We would like to discuss your concerns with you. Would you please contact Michelle Rainer, VP of Sales at [removed] or [removed]? Thank you!
Sodalis Waco so far is a good fit for our loved one. It has a very warm and homey feel. The staff is very friendly and caring and attentive to my dad. The home is very clean and well-kept. The landscaping is very well-maintained and looks beautiful and inviting. I live quite a distance away but from everything I've been hearing everything is going well. It had a very good feeling of the residents being well taken care of, that is why we chose Sodalis Waco for our loved one. I would recommend this community to friends and family.

I like the care for my jusband at this community. We have found that the staff are very caring and friendly to our needs. The community is clean, but at times needs some small improvements. The menu is appealing witl alot of choices. They do have activities and he does like to participate in the smaller activities. I am happy with his care and would recommend the care and the value of this new staff to others .

We visited a few weeks ago looking at places for a family member. The community was lively and more important to me, clean. The lady in charge was friendly, knowledgeable about alzheimers and seemed to care about us and what we needed to do. The food looked good and the family member I talked to said they loved it there. Only downside for us is that they are full with a wait list. They do have another place in Temple we can go to if things with my husbands mom gets to a crisis point.

This place would be appropriate when the patient has almost no or no idea where they are or who anyone is around them. The caregivers are kind. There’s very little to do besides watch TV or sit outside. Very small facility.

May 23, 2016Our caregivers are indeed fabulous and we're glad that you experienced their kindness. Your visit must have been during a quiet time, because If you ask any of our Sodalis families, you will know that our community is full of life! A visit to the Sodalis Facebook page ([removed] or to the Waco website ([removed] and search for Waco) will show you just how active Sodalis Life can be! Just this past month, we've celebrated Mother's Day with an Italian feast, had a visit from Elvis, enjoyed cooking class, exercised our bodies, minds & spirits, played games, learned new things and basically found ways to celebrate life! Just like in any household, some days are busier than other days. We appreciate that you took the time to share some thoughts about your visit to our community, but we certainly hope you'll return to get a more accurate sense of Sodalis Life!

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
