The front office staff at Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit is friendly and calm The care staff nursing is great, but some of the day to day care staff do not perform up to expected standards with brief changes. For example: 2 different staff member occurrences within 7 months. Families have to check in often and follow up with the Assisted Living Director to get these issues taken care of to improve care taker quality. Families need to advocate for their elder often. Don't expect to just visit once a week, you need to be there often to ensure proper care of elder occurs.... Read more
Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit provides assisted living as well as rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing. With charming, homey touches throughout the community, residents can enjoy the well-appointed grounds from the courtyard’s gazebo or enjoy a fireside chat with a new friend. Veterans may also be eligible for benefits to help offset the cost of care.
The Spicewood Summit neighborhood provides a quiet, restful area to call home that’s still close to all your favorite spots in Austin, Texas. Area highlights include the Zilker Botanical Garden, LBJ Presidential Library, and the Cathedral of Junk — an off-beat art installation combining overgrown greenery and discarded items.
Juniper Village’s innovative Connect4Life program improves health and well-being. The program features on-site services such as therapy, pharmacy, primary care, and more — making Juniper a one-stop-shop for many health care needs. A dedicated medical concierge coordinates services on- and off-site, meaning families don’t need to worry about the details of their loved one’s care. Connect4Life also leads to better outcomes — an independent study confirmed that Juniper Village residents have lower re-hospitalization rates compared to residents of other senior living communities. Convenient, coordinated care keeps residents healthier and enables them to live more...

I was here for skilled nursing after an accident. The nurses range from excellent to just plain scary. This is a terrible place for skilled nursing, I was surrounded by people so lost in Alzheimer's that they couldn't carry on a conversation. If you are here for an extended time, it is easy to get depressed because you feel so isolated. It's clear that all activities are geared toward the long term residents. The food has delicious sounding names (sounds like something from a nice restaurant), but when it arrives it's just cafeteria-style food. it often took 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours for my medication to arrive. If you are waiting for pain medication this wait was excruciating. If you have a family member here, don't just come by on the weekend. Come on different weekday evenings, or even during the weekday days. That's when you see what's really going on. The physical therapy was reasonably good, but only once a day. It wasn't nearly enough for my needs, I had to really work hard to catch up when I got home. They care, but there's just not enough PT people to offer the time you will need. I'm actually in therapy due to the actions of one nurse. If your loved one is "difficult", they will be treated with less compassion. I'd look somewhere else for better care.

I think it was Carla or Carley that gave us the tour. You can tell she really cared and was passionate about this place here in Austin. She made our experience great the whole time every step.

Brookdale Spicewood Springs is going good. The only complaint I have is the medication delivery seems unpredictable. The staff is very nice and very helpful. They have a really good menu selection. Overall it has been a good experience.

I would like to see the staff clean moms bathroom more often here at Brookdale Spicewood Springs. I am beginning to learn that what my mom says and what the staff says is sometimes different. They are doing a pretty good job there but mom is so particular. Mom is coming from 24 hour care and doesn't get that as much here. So wait time for her is a little long but she can be very difficult. I told my sister that part of the job of the staff should be educating and communicating with the friends and family not just the residents. They need to train us on what to expect.

Had to wait approx. 20 minutes for Carla to meet with me; otherwise, very helpful and nice. Lobby and community areas are attractive. The rooms are a good standard. The rates are higher than what "A Place for Mom" told me.

We've had an excellent experience with Emeritus at Spicewood Springs! It's a very nice looking, clean, and well kept facility. The staff are all very friendly, and they are very responsive to any questions or requests from the families or from the residents!

Carla did a great job showing me around - their rooms are small and above Mom's price range. I liked the fact that it is assisted living and skilled nursing all in one place and that you can go in as independent llving as well. Good options, just not for my mom.

My mom was in the skilled nursing part of Spicewood Springs. They did have assisted living available, but we decided to move her to a community much closer once she was out of rehab. We observed that there was a wide array of activities, although my mom couldn't participate. The staff was really good, especially in skilled nursing. She was there for her broken hip, and she made a nice recovery.
