I enthusiastically recommend Independence Village as an exceptional new home for your loved ones. They are dedicated to the INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT of their residents. I give presentations about the private lives of historical people. You would be surprised how many facilities do not want to offer this. Independence Village is an exception. They go beyond the normal activities offered to provide an exceptional educational opportunity. They show a great respect for the mind and dignity of each resident. This also allows for increased socialization and a forum to discuss ideas. The Life Enrichment Director has taken the time to invest in new ideas and opportunities for her residents. She has an intellectual openness that is hard to find. Your resident can be challenged intellectually at Independence Village of Aurora. I cannot think of a better place to call home. I have performed regularly at Independence Villages, and all of the residents seem very happy and well taken care of. The dining room and the food looks amazing, the staff always cheerful and professional, looking after all of the residents needs with care. Everyone has a great, professional, caring attitude and they have many activities for the residents to take part in if they choose. I highly recommend IV of Aurora.

I enthusiastically recommend Independence Village of Aurora as a home for any senior. They are dedicated to providing a lifestyle of INTELLECTUAL STIMULATION for their residents. I give presentations about the personal lives of historical people. You would be surprised at how many facilities have no interest in these intellectual pursuits. Independence Village is an exception. They go beyond offering the regular, common activities and challenge the residents' mind. They show a great respect for the mind and dignity of each resident. This also allows for socialization and an opportunity to learn and discuss ideas. The Life Enrichment Director is dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for those longing to learn and grow. She is open to new ideas and opportunities for her residents. Learning matters to her-as well as the enthusiastic residents.

The two most important things in assisted living facilities are individual care and meals. I have both here at Independence Village. My 3 meals a day are exceptional and my day to day care by my nurses and aides is beyond what I expected. I'm at home here. I am a paraplegic.

I have lived here for 2 years. The people who work here have been very helpful. Most of the population are women with most of the activities being geared for women. Independence Village gave me the opportunity to regain my strength and feel comfortable in the community of Aurora. I.V. has done an excellent job controlling Covid. The administration has been very cooperative with supporting me.

I moved to Independence Village during the height of the shutdown for the pandemic. Precautions are taken here to protect everyone and we have still been able to live comfortably with the new rules. Activities have continued to keep us happy and alert which, to me, is very important.

I have lived here 4+ years in independent living with help from Laurus Homecare. I have multiple sclerosis and need help dressing and showering. I am wheelchair bound. Many activities provided here. Food is good. Safe environment during Covid. Staff is well trained.

Independence Village seems to be a clean friendly environment, rooms are up to date. My parents have enjoyed the food. Things are a little different with the quarantine with a limited menu but that is to be expected.

Just walking into the front doors was a thrill for its beautiful furniture and gracious greeter. The yummy meals are also good. I cooked meals for my family of 7 years. I enjoy the great variety from the shelf and the staff.

The quality of the food has gone significantly downhill over the past 6-12 months. There are many open apartments, however good food is one of the major attractions to a community, and until this issue is remedied it will be difficult to fill the apartments. Over the 2 past years, the activities department has had a lot of turn over, and thus, been struggling to offer high quality programs. 2020 has started out better--hope it remains this way!

A Place for Mom has scored Independence Village of Aurora 9.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
