Independence Village has been my mothers home for the past eight years. The director, the staff and the services provided were excellent. My mother was truly loved in this setting and this was reflected in how she was treated.

Everything that was presented to us in the beginning, did not happen after my loved one moved in. They promised meal plan options with two different entres, and the option to get something else, like a cheeseburge, if our loved one did not like intitial options. There was a change in the menus from corporate, which impacted the quality of food services. The front desk staff is okay. There was a lot of follow-up to get services in place. They were not always on top of things, for us to get services for a home health aide.

Response from Independence Village of Aurora
September 20, 2022Hello, We are disappointed that your loved one is disappointed by our menu items. Our Executive Chef at Independence Village of Aurora will bend over backwards to ensure that each resident is happy, including bringing in his personal smoker to make food for residents that don't like the menu options. We encourage families to connect with him to discuss what other options are available because he will do anything in his power to make it work. We would like to connect with you directly, but you didn't leave a name on your review. If there are any concerns you want resolution with, we would recommend calling our community and asking to speak with our Executive Director. Thank you.
We chose Independence Village of Aurora because we knew someone else who was in the facility at the time and also the location is great for me, it is close enough so I can go see him almost every day. They have been great and we are very happy with our experience.

The place is always spotless and staff are friendly and helpful. Even through Covid, they did what they could to keep us connected. Have recommended to friends and family!
I have lived in IV Aurora for 4 years. I enjoy playing cards with my friends. I really like the Latin dance class - it gets us moving! The caregivers are very helpful and compassionate.

A Place for Mom has scored Independence Village of Aurora 9.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
