My dad moved in about 5 months ago and it was the best decision I could have ever made. I felt guilt, nervousness and stress. I have toured multiple places before making a decision and the moment I walked in I knew this was the community! Everyone was smiling and saying hi as a toured and all I felt was the warmth of this community. From that day on it has never changed! Thank you to all the employees who take care of my dad every day and make him feel important and comfortable. You all are rockstars and I can't thank you enough! If you are looking for a place for your loved one, you have to check out Alamar! You will feel the warmth for yourself!

I toured Alamar , looking to transition my parents down from New York in the beginning of next year. The sales girl was so knowledgeable and greeted everyone by name. Everyone was enjoying themselves at happy hour. It was so sweet to see. The community is clean and just as beautiful as the pictures. I don’t normally write reviews, but this community deserves all of the recognition!

Beautiful community with such caring, friendly staff. My mom loves it there with so many friends and is always busy! Me and my sister toured many communities but this one stood out by far. The moment we walked in is the moment we knew this was our choice! With that being said we are so happy we chose Alamar! Definitely recommend!

[name removed] was an exception, she was not happy there. She would not take part in the activities, was not cooperative with the staff etc. Some of the other patients there seemed to be content. Overall it's a very nice place and we would recommend them to other families.

There was a nurse there that were a little on the rough side and I know that was because my mother was being combative during shower time because she has dementia but after speaking to the director the behavior was corrected. It's a beautiful facility, it looks like a resort and everybody is very friendly.

There were wonderful experiences, but sometimes my loved one did not receive meds. There was an incident, where my loved one was not fed. The food, and activities were great. They need to know what the agreed upon deliverables are.

Conveniently located to our home, however our time there we just didn’t get the homey feeling we wanted for our loved one.
Management is super friendly and responsive but the CNA's is not as friendly. The food is okay. The value for the money is average but expensive.

We're not particularly happy with them. Our biggest concern is the health aides, which they call care partners. We pay extra for additional services. Their base price is basically independent living, and you pay extra for assistance. The care partners aren't showing up half the time to help our loved one with showering, dressing, or going to bed. Which is hard on my loved one, who then doesn't know what to do. I've discussed it with the head nurse and the director, and it's still happening. Another concern is that the care partners don't have any bedside manner or communication skills. Residents like my loved one with mild dementia need a greeting and/or introduction when a person enters into their home. Often they don't say anything when they come in. Sometimes they ask her if she needs anything instead of just helping her with the pre-determined task. If she says she's not sure, they just leave. And these aren't isolated incidents. As far as recreation goes, the recreation director is very nice, and I think he tries to do a good job. But activities have been very inconsistent. When they're not happening as posted, there is no communication. When activities are on the schedule, it's not indicated where in the facility they will be taking place. When she asks the concierge, they don't know. And often activities are cancelled because nobody is showing up. So she has pretty much given up on trying to attend. Meals are one of the highlights. The dining room staff is a little friendlier. They know everyone by name, and ask the residents what they would like to eat at each meal. They could speak up a little though, since many of the residents are hard of hearing. But everything I've tried has been good. They serve dessert every day, and they serve the crispiest bacon I've ever had. The menu has good variety. The concierge staff is also very friendly, as well as housekeeping. It's a beautiful facility - bright and shiny and new. The tour was wonderful, but it doesn't live up to the hype. It's the care partners that we have a problem with - their lack of bedside manner and inconsistency of care, which we are paying a premium for. I also wish they had online availability for families to see the activities schedule so I could prompt her to participate. Additionally, there is no way to check meal balances, which don't roll over, unless you contact the chef. So it's hard to plan for the month. Basically there is no online visibility for families, and there's no excuse for that in this tech day and age. For the residents without family there to advocate for them, I would be concerned.

This was one of the most traumatic experiences I've had as of late. The director disparaged us because my parent is on Medicaid (then don't accept Medicaid if you think we're beneath you) and we were misled and did not end up moving in. I have a credible witness who can attest to this. The executive team was no better. They treated us like they were doing us a favor and seemed to forget who their bread and butter is. It's all about the money imho. They even had an attorney from out of state try and silence me but that's what actually spurred me to write this review. This experience has really left me concerned about putting my parent in any community. Look past the beautiful facade.
