Welcoming and accommodating

I would rate everything a 5 except the food/dining as a 4. Mom was OK with the food, just not overjoyed.Having been a nurse for over 40 years, she always had a critical eye for the care she received. She praised far more staff than she complained about. The facilities were always well kept. Pleased for this caring community

With regard to #8, value for the money... It is tragic that providing quality care for aging and frail parents in their time of need comes down to how much remains of their savings. My mom is very apt to outlive her savings that have afforded her current living situation and we worry and dread that likely next move. It will be terribly disruptive for my mom, after several years of disruption. The cost of long term care is astronomical and adds significant stress for the caring family to an already tragic diagnosis. I am grateful for the financial resources we have available to my Mom but am sad for those many people who do not have such access in their time of need. The day-to-day care and professional staff appear to be very well trained in communicating with and supporting their memory care residents' needs. The staff seem to know each resident; are patient, respectful, attentive, and caring to their residents' individual needs.

Review for Farmington Station, A Senior Living Residence

Beautiful well-maintained facilities and grounds. Friendly staff that are eager to make your stay comfortable. Price has increased nine percent in each of the last two years which will draw down savings more quickly forcing a move to skilled nursing facility. Connecticut does not fund assisted living facilities even though they are substantially cheaper than snf's.

Superb

I would recommend they include Farmington Station in the places they look at. We are using it for respite care. A driver for us to go there was that they do not have minimum stay requirements for respite care. Most other places we talked to do. Also there cost is reasonable in comparison.

flexible and accommodating community

When it comes to the activities, the list looks good, but it is too early to say if my mom has had a good experience with them yet. Only thought here is that my mom and I wish there was a more formal orientation during that first week, other than that it has been great so far! Based on the experience we have had so far, we would 100% recommend Farmington Station to other families

Farmington Station THE BEST!

The Farmington Station has been one of the best decisions my family and I made for my elderly Dad. He's [Age Removed] and no longer isolated living home alone. The entire staff is kind and made him feel at home the minute he walked in. The meals served in the dining room are top notch with daily lunch and dinner specials as well as the regular menu. The staff checks on him often and escorts him to the dining room and any activities he wants to participate in during the day. The entire facility is clean and feels just like home.

Excellent home and care for my 95 year old dad

We are very happy with the care our dad is receiving. He commented the other day that the staff feel like family. They all know and I understand him and how to help support his quality of life despite his developing dementia. The food is homemade with fresh vegetables including the daily soup of the day. Although, what he is going through is frustrating for him he is happy there.

A wonderful new home for Mom!

Farmington Station impressed me right from the start and has not stopped since! I met with [name removed] in August and he shared what the programs were, introduced me to staff members and showed me a variety of apartment floor plans. I had toured and interviewed several other assisted living locations but there was something about Farmington Station that just felt right. Mom moved in mid September and after a couple of weeks of getting adjusted and used to new surrounding she settled right in. She now even has her own favorite spot downstairs in the main area where she can sit and "people-watch" one of her favorite past times!! The food is excellent, activities are varied and abundant, friends are easily made and care is excellent! I could not have done better for Mom!

Comfortable setting

Farmington station is a very comfortable setting for my 91 year old father. Since moving him into the community, he has appeared happier. The staff are very pleasant and helpful to his needs. He enjoys the food and activities offered to him. However he has the freedom to go to the activities or not.

Finding mom a new home

I was in a tight timeline situation and [name removed] went above and beyond to get my mom in a safe environment immediately. He even gave us a fully furnished room until we are able to get my moms stuff relocated. He was very thorough going over paperwork every step of the way with no hidden information on what is offered and what it costs. I feel this place is genuine in wanting to provide the best care and environment possible for our loved ones and the entire staff has been wonderful in our transition to my moms new home.

If I could rate at a zero, I would. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. They either don't do assessments correctly or they accept 2 person assist residents that they're not equipped to care for. Either way, they advertise that they accept 2 person assists and they shouldn't. My loved one isn't mobile, they knew this. Her very first day here she was left in bed until housekeeping came into her room at 10am the next day. No one checked on her and she knew it, she was just waiting for someone to come into her room so that she could tell them. When the housekeeper came in, she was so upset and made it known. She had a slight cough when she moved in. They were aware of it. She'd been seen and tested negative for Covid and they said it was ok to move her in. After this incident, conveniently, they were concerned about her cough and wanted her to be assessed in the ER. Ultimately, she was sent to another facility for PT. This facility told us she could come back after completing PT. She did PT for a month and improved SO much. The PT facility cleared her to come back to Farmington Station and when the time came, they said she couldn't come back! She was better than before, PT was an incredible help and her strength was better than ever. But they said no to her coming back. Basically, they didn't want to deal with her care needs. We were literally left stranded. I just wish they had been honest from the beginning and not accepted her if they couldn't provide her care needs. Other facilities were and that was ok with us. But they did an assessment before she moved in and cleared her to move in, even knew about the cough. Why? We definitely feel like this place is run like a business and residents are just numbers. This whole experience caused so much emotional stress for her and was just unnecessary. And it broke her trust in us. I could go on and on about the way this whole thing was handled and the damage it caused. Thankfully, she's in a much better place now and doing so well. But I want others to know this, I don't want this to happen to another family.
