Beware! No security. The housekeeping staff stole all of my leased furniture. Because of the theft, I was not able to move in. They charged for the apt any way. The whole experience was a nightmare. Food was mediocre. Resident advocate would not speak to me about the theft. Older lady was know caked down by resident driver. Nothing was done Employees are not trained. Caring recommended and made a reservation for me to visit them and would not even respond to the complaints I sent to them about the lack of service and security.

When we have had different concerns and have contacted management, it has taken multiple emails and calls to get them to respond. Then the concerns we not addressed and actually minimized. We routinely have to ask them to clean my mom's apartment. Apparently, residents are only allowed to use the laundry on whatever floor they reside on and when there are issues with the laundry working properly, the resident is just expected to wait until it is repaired versus being allowed to use laundry on another floor. And it is impossible to get consistent care and communication with the the other service providers that are onsite- like pt Transportation is supposed to be available, but the driver is rarely available. There is also no social worker onsite to help with getting additional services nor is the staff educated on the behaviors and symptoms associated with different diagnoses. My mom is experiencing some psychiatric symptoms and the staff is enabling some unsafe behaviors and has discounted our concerns. There have been multiple times where mom has signed up to go on a trip and it gets canceled at the last minute. Mom is happy and enjoys it- but from a family/caregiver perspective, they have been a nightmare to deal with and we are trying to figure out how to move her without traumatizing her

Mostly a good experience with a few exceptions. The cleanliness would be a 5 but it took housekeeping over a month to start cleaning our apartment. But the rest of building is very clean. The maintenance, motherwell caregivers, office and concierge employees are so attentive and nice and caring. 100% love these employees. Great service. The professionalism needs to be greatly improved with the Restaurant staff. We use Motherwell and have had a very pleasant experience. We have experienced being ignored or not being served. It isn't all the Restaurant employees but there are a quite a few that ruin the experience. I have even heard some of these employees cussing and yelling at other employees. These employee who treat the residents poorly makes the others look bad. The professionalism (as above) needs to be greatly improved by the Restaurant staff. Great selection of activities every day and every month. Great value for the price

The management team was very helpful during the time period of viewing the property and learning about what was available for residents. After move in, the staff members have been great in assisting with adjustments that were needed. The common areas have been kept clean and orderly. Still learning about the different schedules for meals and activities. Appreciate the help that has been provided by everyone.

People, both residents and staff are really fine people. There were some issues with dining service - coordination of timing for lunch, sometime salad bar limited items, seating rules. However, most have been addressed and improved. Biggest complaint is gnats in apartments. Need to get pest control for all apts.

I would definitely recommend Dunwoody Pines to anyone. I have already recommended a Place for Mom to several friends because of all of the terrific help you gave. I was at my wits end the night we spoke and I will always be grateful for the hour you spent with me on the phone and the great independent facility you found.

The place is a former hotel that offers affordable rental units. The food service is adequate. Some of the amenities are not as advertised. The hair and nail salon are never open. Movie night is not what I would expect either. It took a while to get phone service connected. Still having trouble getting the maid service going. But overall this was a good place for our situation. My mother has made some friends there and seems to be doing well.

They are in the process of revamping their activities program. It is definitely a place where if you are an introvert, you may not be able to make friends easy. Overall, I think it is a nice facility.

The staff at Dunwoody Pines Retirement Community is hard to get in touch with after the initial move in. We had some questions and it took several emails to get them answered. Housekeeping is good, but again, I had to ask to get it started. They didn't auto start it when my loved one moved in. The move in process was okay- it would have been nice to have more help, we were kind of on our own. The meals are good, but they don't have a good variety. Overall, I would recommend Dunwoody Pines Retirement Community to others.

This place is wonderful. Beautiful-clean and well maintained. We love working with [name removed] -she is the best. She helped us every step of the way with my brother getting settled and has continued helping him since he has been there. We couldn’t ask for a better place or more caring staff. Thank you.

My family and I have had an outstanding experience with Dunwoody Pines. We had a challenging time getting my Mom settled. [name removed], has a vast knowledge of retirement communities and is so on spot, caring and always willing to help. The staff is wonderful and helpful. The food service is delicious, and amenities include pool, family grilling area, movie theater, all kinds of classes, Koi fishpond, hair salon, library and lovely live piano music. The residents are very welcoming and kind.

Dunwoody Pines has been a nightmare due to theft and lack of surveillance and security. Employees stole leased furniture. And corporate will not pay for damages.

During the tour the community seemed empty, as we didn't see any residents and very few staff members. We also didn't get to see the entire community. The pricing seemed more expensive than we wanted.
They give the residents more carbs, than vegetables. They need to improve on the food, and customer service. The apartments are pretty clean. The staff needs to do better, with handling policies, and enfocing rules.

A Place for Mom has scored Dunwoody Pines Retirement Community 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
