My parent has lived here several years in AL. The nursing staff esp head nurse [name removed] is remarkably responsive, kind, and knowledgeable and works well with doctors and families. Facility is beautiful and most dept directors are long term and know my parent well. Open door policy w residents and directors. Activities staff offers outings and daily range of activities. Dining room is big, airy, and dining room staff kind to and know my parent. Rooms and common areas spotless. Facility Director Sandy is fabulous and staff from maintenance to concierges drivers and kitchen work hard 24/7. If that's what you are looking for, get on the wait list.

I toured Somerby Sandy Springs and it was wonderful, we thought we were going to choose this community. We chose another community because both of my parents could reside in a single apartment. At Somerby they'd have to have two residences or an independent with care added on top. It ended up being less expensive over medium- to long term to choose the other community, rather than paying for two apartments.
I loved the community and would have chosen this community for myself. My loved one decided to choose another community that fit her better.
We liked this one but decided against it for two reasons: 1. Too expensive and 2. Could not wear jeans to dinner so a bit too “fancy” for my mom

The cleanliness of this community is very good, and the staff members are absolutely wonderful. I do think it is a good value, and overall the place is nice, but the only problem i do have with it would be their rental policy. The activities are wonderful, we have happy hours and ice cream socials. The activities director is fantastic. there was two things that attracted me here, first was the residents and the staff, they are were very friendly. Second would be the facility itself, it is very nice and as well as the amenities.

Sombery Sandy Springs did a very good job with keeping the residents safe and healthy from COVID during the pandemic. They also were good about keeping the residents and family informed. The food was mediocre at best, the wait staff was very slow. When they delivered the food, it would arrive cold and they had very limited choices. They ended up living off of peanut butter crackers and hot dogs because they did not like the food. My in-laws had bed bugs 4 times. The person in charge of the facility was unforgiving when it came to the bed bug problem and it was not getting solved. In a non-COVID environment, I think she might have been more accepting, but I do not think the director is a very easy person to work with.

Beware! Somerby at Sandy Springs no longer employs a RN to be Director of Health. There are only LPN’s in the buildings. Other Somerby’s have an RN on staff. I will be moving my father because of this. When I moved him in I was told there would always be a RN and the nurse that left was terrific. This is a high cost facility and should have an RN.

This is a beautiful environment. There activities are plentiful and there are several options for dining. The downside is the horrible 400 traffic and they are building so much more along that corridor it will only get worse. Their prices, for me, are a bit too much. 2BED/2BTH-$4,895 per mo.$2,500 just to enter there for a residence which some others charge as well.

The property is beautiful. The 2 bedroom 2 bath independent living apartment I looked at for my mother had a full kitchen and lots of closet space. A real plus compared to other properties.

While this facility is attractive and the staff seems nice, I cannot recommend it because the food is so bad and the service is terrible. The dining experience is a major part of the day for senior residents and I am amazed at how poor it is. My mother was originally at the Somerby in Alpharetta when it opened. The food there was good. The menu was much more extensive, and the service was adequate. It is just the opposite at Somerby in Sandy Springs on all three accounts. In fact, I dread going there to eat with my Mother. We have complained, but it doesn't seem to improve. Again, I would explore other facilities, before making a decision.

The only thing better than this 5 star facility is the 5 star employees who make this facility a 5 star community.

A Place for Mom has scored Somerby Sandy Springs 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
