I love my home away from home at Chesterwood. When you enter the building, you feel like you’re walking down a street somewhere I love that! I feel warm and cozy. The people are friendly. They make sure that you never eat alone. They make sure you feel included. The place is clean and it’s warm. Someone asked how I feel about it and what I told them is, I feel warm every day whether the sun is shining or not when I look out of the window, or walk down the hall I feel warm. Oh, and I love the Red Brick Road, a marvel idea.

I would recommend Chesterwood Senior Living to others, as far as the independent living goes. My mom seems to like it. The people are all very friendly. She says that the food is okay, some days are better than others. The housekeeping is good. She has no complaints.

Response from Chesterwood Senior Living
May 14, 2024Thank you so much for taking the time to leave an excellent review. We are thrilled to hear that your mother is pleased with her experience. Your kind words mean a lot to our team! We hope you and your mother continue to be a part of our Chesterwood family for some time.
I would recommend Chesterwood Senior Living to other families. The move in was fine. Staff, for the most part, are very friendly and kind. I have not had much interaction with either housekeeping or maintenance, though they were very responsive and helpful.

We are in the cottages and some of our neighbors tell us lots has changed since being sold last year and not for the better but we have been happy so far. Cottage size is good for us, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a small sunroom, living room, dining area and kitchen. Small porch on front and 1 car garage.

They should probably repaint the red brick road in the main building. It's gotten worn down. Minor detail, of course.

We are getting settled into our cottage and beginning to meet neighbors and so far it has been very good. Glad we chose to move here because we already knew the area and so many places close that we already use.

Response from Chesterwood Senior Living
June 30, 2023Welcome to Chesterwood Senior Living. We are excited and proud that you have selected Chesterwood as your new home. I am sure you will meet the wonderful people that live in the cottages and hopefully find new friends and new adventures. Please reach out if you have any questions or needs. Jane
Feel free to waste your money or assume their fake introduction and yours translate into care. You will regret this decision every day of your loved ones remaining life. If I could rate this negatively I would they don’t belong in this business not their nurse’s administration especially not their poor excuse for social work case manager. Other than a space creating money they don’t give a [removed] about you which is referenced by their forms that show meds admission and death date not date of discharge. Everything is wrong here from stealing to incorrect meds to falls to discrimination.

My mother has enjoyed Chesterwood Village. It's been a good place for her. She's comfortable there and has made friends that she gets along with well. They all dine together and have conversations. The only negative aspect would be the meals and dining. The quality and taste of the food could be improved- especially chicken, which they serve often. They also have a problem having enough people for serving.

Chesterwood Village is an extremely nice facility. It is bigger so there are a lot of people here and lots of social activities. My loved one is not very social so we felt it was not the right fit for him. For someone who is more social though it would be a great fit, I would go here myself.
We chose Chesterwood Village because it was recommended to us by a couple of people including a friend of ours who is in the nursing home business. The room she was in for assisted living was a good size with a big bedroom and large walk in closet. We were able to move a lot of her furniture in so they were spacious. Now that they are opening up, the facility has some good amenities and activities that are provided for their residents. Overall I would highly recommend them to others who are looking.

My husband was in for rehab. He has Parkinson’s and is under the care of a neurologist, he has hallucinations and confusion plus has trouble walking. They called in a psychiatrist without consulting me and he put him on a medication without checking with his neurologist which made him worse. Not a very caring staff at all. The social worker rarely returned calls, I took him out after 2 weeks and he was much worse than when he went in. Plus I took a whole suitcase full of clothes for him and he only had 4 pieces. After calling 6 different times we finally got some back. I have him in a much better place now, the dr just called and was horrified about the med that he was put in there, she isaid no Parkinson’s patient should ever be on that medication. She is going to call his neurologist to talk because chesterwood never did even though the doctor there said she would! Horrible place and I would never put anyone there again.

The staff is very friendly and very supportive. They celebrated my loved ones' birthdays and they loved that. Any issues are quick and easily resolved. Communication could be better, sometimes it's hard to get ahold of someone. I would recommend this community to others

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE. It seems like a nice place, but they take your family in and you can't see them because of COVID guidelines, and you can't contact them. My aunt has been there less than 24 hours and we have had no contact. When we call, we're transferred around. My aunt isn't answering the room phone or her cell phone and NO ONE cares to tell us what's going on. We have no idea what's happening with her, and she has been unwell for weeks. If my aunt were in prison, I would expect this. But she's in a care facility that does not actually care. Note: This review form asked about cleanliness, friendliness, value, care services and activities. I cannot make a review on those factors as we have not been granted access to the facility or our loved one.

We love the way Chesterwood Village is set up, it looks like a little town. We knew our loved one would be happy here, and she loves it. Our loved one really enjoyed the food at first, now it is about average. The rooms are great, they would be a five out of five. However, since our loved one is independent living, they are allowed to go out and go to stores and restaurants, so we are surprised they allow that but do not allow one person to come into the community.

My Mom and Dad are there and the food has gotten progressively worse over approximately 9 years. Won't go into particulars, but it's obvious they are cutting corners big time to make them more profits at the expense of the elderly living there getting quality and enjoyable food, especially considering the big bucks being paid for them to live there!!! I challenge the owners to eat what my parents are getting for a month without the food service workers knowing who it's going to!!!

I was recently at Chesterwood Village for 10 days for physical training for my neuropathy issue w/my legs. The facility is first class all the way around. The nurses and entire staff are outstanding. Anything you need they'll get for you. When I got there I could barely walk. After doing physical training w/my therapists twice a day I left walking strong and feeling much more confident in my capabilities. The therapists were amazing and after some preliminary tests during my evaluation, they knew exactly what exercises to focus on to improve my walking and balance. My friends say I look like the old me. One other nice thing is they have smaller gyms all around the facility that you can work out in 24/7 I would highly recommend Chesterwood for Physical Therapy. It sure helped me. [name removed]

My mother won’t eat in the dining room because the food is so bad. They keep promising that it will get better but it doesn’t. She has to watch the amount of trash she puts out each night because the person collecting it only has a small bag it all has to fit in. I think we made a mistake moving her here but it is too late now.

A Place for Mom has scored Chesterwood Senior Living 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
